Worth Noting: At one point in this game, Sacramento held a 7-1 lead, but Salt Lake came back to tie it 7-7 after scoring 3 runs off both Tyson Ross and Merkin Valdez in the 7th and 8th innings. Right-hander Jeremy Accardo eventually earned the win after he shut things down with 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. Starter Jesse Chavez had a solid outing for Sacramento, allowing just 1 run and striking out 8 over 6 innings of work. Grant Green, getting the start in left field, had a big night at the plate, collecting 3 hits, including his 27th double and his 15th home run, while driving in 3 runs for the River Cats. Third baseman Stephen Parker had 2 doubles and drove in 3, while shortstop Josh Horton, appearing in his first game with Sacramento since his promotion from Midland, quickly endeared himself to his new teammates by driving in the go-ahead run with 2 outs in the top of the 9th inning.

Worth Noting: Starter Murphy Smith had a rough outing, allowing 6 runs and walking 5 over just 1 1/3 innings to take his 11th loss. Catcher David Freitas had another productive night at the plate though, hitting his 2nd home run for the RockHounds and driving in 2 of the team’s 3 runs on the night.

Right-hander Connor Hoehn followed up with 3 scoreless innings in relief, but it wasn’t enough. The Ports could only manage to push 1 run across the plate on Saturday, while designated hitter Tony Thompson had 3 of the team’s 5 hits on the night.

And this year’s 32nd-round draft pick, Ryna Dull, closed it out with 1 perfect inning of relief. Dull picked up his 4th save, while Menna earned his 1st win for Vermont.
