John Nogowski accomplished something fairly rare in Stockton’s season finale on Monday night. He drove in the winning run to make himself the winning pitcher for the Ports. Nogowski threw a scoreless frame in the top of the 12th inning, then came up with two outs and two men on in the bottom of the 12th and singled in the winning run to make himself the winning pitcher on Monday. Nogowski had also singled, doubled and scored twice in the game, while first baseman Chris Iriart singled, doubled, homered, walked and drove in 3 runs to help the Ports finish the season on a high note. This year’s 10th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Mitchell Jordan, was charged with 4 runs in 3 innings of work in his first start for Stockton. And with the win, the Ports finished the season with a 60-80 record.

With the bases loaded and the game tied 4-4 in the top of the 3rd inning on Thursday, shortstop Richie Martin stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam to give Stockton a lead they would never surrender. Martin also singled and drove in another run in the game, while designated hitter John Nogowski singled and homered as well. Right fielder Seth Brown singled, tripled and drove in a run, and catcher Argenis Raga and first baseman Sandber Pimentel had 3 hits apiece for the Ports. RHP Grant Holmes, recently acquired from the Dodgers, had a shaky start for Stockton, allowing 6 runs over 5 innings of work, but he still picked up the win for the Ports on Thursday.

Designated hitter Chad Pinder belted a tie-breaking home run in the bottom of the 6th inning to lead the Sounds to victory on Saturday. Pinder now has 9 home runs on the season and 4 in his last 5 games for Nashville. Left fielder Matt McBride doubled in 2 runs to tie the game in the 2nd, and first baseman Ryon Healy had a pair of hits for the Sounds. Rehabbing starter Henderson Alvarez allowed 2 runs in 3 innings of work but had an unexpectedly early exit. After coming out to warm up for the 4th inning, he ended up leaving the field before the inning could begin after a visit from the trainer. RHP Aaron Kurcz stepped in and tossed 3 scoreless innings to earn his 3rd win, while RHP J.B. Wendelken got the final four outs to post his 5th save for the Sounds. Meanwhile, RHP Andrew Triggs was recalled by the A’s and Tyler Ladendorf was optioned back to Nashville on Saturday.

Starter Angel Castro surrendered 3 runs over 6 innings of work on Tuesday, but shortstop Chad Pinder, who had 3 hits in the game, slugged his 6th home run in the bottom of the 5th inning to give the Sounds a slim 1-run lead. LHP Patrick Schuster surrendered 1 run in the 7th to tie the game at 4-4, and it remained tied until RHP J.B. Wendelken gave up 3 runs in the top of the 10th to take the loss on Tuesday. Second baseman Arismendy Alcantara singled, tripled, walked and swiped a pair of bases, while third baseman Renato Nunez singled, walked and drove in a run, and first baseman Rangel Ravelo had a pair of hits in the loss. With Oakland LHP Sean Manaea landing on the disabled list, Sounds LHP Eric Surkamp was recalled to take his spot on the A’s roster. Surkamp made the start for Oakland on Tuesday night and surrendered 7 runs in 2 1/3 innings to suffer his 4th loss for the A’s.

With one out and a man on third in the bottom of the 10th inning, second baseman Wade Kirkland singled to center field to drive in the winning run as the RockHounds won in a walk-off on Sunday. Kirkland collected a total of 4 hits in the game, including a double, and also drove in a run in the 2nd. Outfielders J.P. Sportman and Tyler Marincov had 3 hits apiece and each drove in a run for the RockHounds, while first baseman John Nogowski went 1 for 4 in his first game for Midland since being promoted from the Ports. Starter Joey Wagman allowed 2 runs over 5 innings of work, and the Hounds held the lead when he left the game before throwing a pitch in the top of the 6th inning with an apparent blister. But RHP Kris Hall was charged with 3 runs in the 7th, while RHP Bobby Wahl surrendered the tying run in the top of the 9th to send the game to extra innings, and RHP Sam Bragg wound up picking up the win after tossing a scoreless top of the 10th for Midland. Meanwhile, with Nashville LHP Daniel Coulombe joining the A’s, RockHounds RHP Ryan Doolittle was reassigned to the Sounds, and Stockton RHP Kyle Finnegan was sent to the Hounds on Sunday.

LHP Dillon Overton delivered a strong start for Nashville, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 8 over 6 2/3 innings to earn his 2nd victory as the Sounds won their 4th straight on Tuesday. RHP J.B. Wendelken got the final two outs in the 9th to notch his 3rd save for Nashville. First baseman Ryon Healy collected 3 hits, including a triple, and drove in the tying run in his Triple-A debut after being promoted from Midland on Tuesday, while right fielder Matt Olson doubled in the winning run in the 6th inning for the Sounds. Meanwhile, Jesse Hahn and Max Muncy were recalled by the A’s and LHP Eric Surkamp was optioned back to Nashville.

Third baseman Matt Chapman delivered the big blow for Midland on Monday, smacking his 5th home run to lead off the top of the 14th inning and send the RockHounds to victory in a game in which the Hounds came back to overcome an early 7-run deficit. With Monday’s round-tripper, Oakland’s top draft pick in 2014 became the first A’s minor leaguer to make it to 5 home runs this season. Chapman also walked and scored in the 5th inning and singled in the 6th. Shortstop Franklin Barreto slugged his 2nd home run of the season to tie the game in the top of the 8th, while first baseman Ryon Healy and left fielder Danny Oh both collected 3 hits and drove in a pair, and designated hitter Viosergy Rosa, right fielder Brett Vertigan and second baseman Wade Kirkland had a pair of hits apiece. Starter Raul Alcantara put the RockHounds in a big hole early, allowing 7 earned runs over the first 2 innings. RHP Sam Bragg relieved Alcantara in the 3rd and began a streak of 12 shutout innings that would be thrown by the Hounds bullpen on Monday night. RHP Aaron Kurcz earned the win by tossing a scoreless 12th and 13th, and infielder Kirkland took the mound in the bottom of the 14th and got the final three outs to register the save for the RockHounds.

With his team holding a slim 1-run lead in the top of the 9th on Monday, outfielder Brett Siddall slugged a grand slam to give the Lake Monsters a 5-run lead, which would come in handy since Lowell would come back to put 3 runs on the board in the bottom of the 9th. But Vermont held on to claim victory in their season finale on Monday. Siddall also had a pair of singles and drove in the Lake Monsters’ first run in the 4th, while shortstop Trace Loehr singled and doubled in 3 runs, including the tying run, and outfielder Seth Brown walked, doubled and tripled in the go-ahead run in the 7th. Starter Dustin Driver gave up 2 runs over 3 innings of work, while LHP Kevin Ferreras allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in 3 innings of relief to earn his 4th win. LHP Tyler Painton surrendered 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but RHP James Naile came on to get the final two outs and post his 6th save for the Lake Monsters. And Vermont finished its season with a 33-42 record.

With two outs, a man on and his team down by a run in the bottom of the 14th, second baseman Wade Kirkland slugged a 2-run homer to give the RockHounds the walk-off win on Wednesday. And over his last 4 games for Midland, the utility infielder has now gone 10 for 20 with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs. Designated hitter Anthony Aliotti singled, doubled, homered, drove in 3 and scored twice for the Hounds. Starter Chris Jensen was strong, tossing 6 shutout innings, but he left with the game a scoreless tie. RHP Jonathan Joseph allowed 1 unearned run in the 7th and, with Midland up by two runs in the top of the 9th, RHP Seth Frankoff surrendered a 2-run homer to tie the game and send things to extra innings. LHP Omar Duran threw 3 scoreless frames in extras before catcher Beau Taylor took the mound and gave up the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th. But thanks to Kirkland’s blast, Taylor was able to pick up his 1st win for the RockHounds.

Midland utility man Wade Kirkland, getting the start at shortstop, turned out to be the hero for the Hounds on Sunday. With the game tied in the top of the 8th, Kirkland singled in the go-ahead run for the RockHounds then followed that up by hitting a 3-run homer in the 9th. Kirkland also singled in the 3rd, while catcher Bruce Maxwell had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and outfielders Josh Whitaker and Jaycob Brugman had a pair of hits apiece. LHP Dillon Overton turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work, but he left the game with his team down by a run, and RHP Kris Hall picked up the win despite giving up 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief for the RockHounds.
