After being down by 5 runs after just 3 innings on Tuesday, Stockton staged a startling comeback victory by putting 9 runs on the board over the next 5 innings. Right fielder Tyler Marincov drove in 4 of those runs – one on a single in the 4th, two on a double in the 6th and a final one on a sacrifice fly in the 7th. Center fielder Brett Vertigan had 3 hits, drove in a run and scored twice, while left fielder B.J. Boyd had 2 hits and a walk, stole a base and drove in a run, and second baseman Branden Cogswell and designated hitter Michael Soto had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. RHP Daniel Mengden had a shaky start for Stockton, allowing 5 runs over 3 innings of work, while RHP Sam Roberts pitched 3 perfect innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Ben Bracewell got the final seven outs to post his 6th save for Stockton.

In his fourth appearance since returning from a seven-week stint on the disabled list, LHP Sean Nolin was impressive for the Sounds, retiring the first 12 batters he faced and allowing just 1 baserunner, on a single in the 5th inning, while striking out 6 over 4 2/3 innings of work, and he left the game with a 1-run lead on Monday. LHP Victor Veliz tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win in his first appearance for Nashville. Outfielder Jason Pridie had a pair of hits, shortstop Andy Parrino and designated hitter Rangel Ravelo each singled, walked and drove in a run, and second baseman Joey Wendle singled and swiped a pair of bases for the Sounds. In addition to Veliz’s addition to the roster, RHP Jake Sanchez and catcher Nick Rickles were promoted to Nashville from Midland and RHP Cody Martin was placed on the temporarily inactive list as the A’s prepare to promote him to Oakland on Tuesday.

Shortstop Yairo Munoz has a big night at the plate for the Ports on Wednesday. The 20-year-old brought in a run with a sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning, hit a 2-run homer in the 4th, and then doubled in a run and came around to score on a throwing error in the 6th. First baseman John Nogowski hit his 4th home run in the 2nd, while designated hitter Jacob Nottingham singled, doubled and drove in a run, and third baseman Melvin Mercedes had 2 hits and a walk, stole a base, drove in 2 runs and scored 3 times for the Ports. RHP Daniel Mengden turned in a strong start for Stockton, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work to earn his 6th win on Wednesday.

Second baseman Joey Wendle hit his 8th home run to tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd and also drove in another run in the 8th and doubled and was thrown out at the plate in the 1st on Saturday. And Wendle is now 10 for 19 with a pair of home runs over his past 5 games for the Sounds. Center fielder Craig Gentry reached base 4 times, on 3 hits and a walk, and drove in the go-ahead run in the 8th, while third baseman Brent Morel had a pair of doubles, and shortstop Andy Parrino had 2 hits and 2 walks for Nashville. Starter Nate Long was solid, allowing 1 run over 7 innings of work and left with the game tied, while RHP Brock Huntzinger tossed a scoreless 8th to earn the win, and RHP Angel Castro got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 6th save for the Sounds. Meanwhile, the A’s reinstated LHP Sean Doolittle from the disabled list and optioned RHP Dan Otero back to Nashville.

With two outs, two on and his team down by two runs in the bottom of the 7th, catcher Nick Rickles, getting a rare start at first base on Saturday, stroked a single to center field to bring in both runners and tie the game 4-4. Rickles also singled and scored a run in the 3rd, and the RockHounds plated the winning run in the 8th when second baseman Colin Walsh scored on designated hitter Chad Pinder’s sacrifice fly. Third baseman Ryon Healy had a pair of hits and a walk and drove in Rickles in the 3rd, while Matt Olson made a remarkable 9 putouts in right field. Starter Dillon Overton allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings of work, while LHP Jeff Urlaub gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief. RHP Ryan Doolittle struck out the side in the 8th to pick up his 4th win, and RHP Seth Frankoff got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 7th save. In other news, outfielder Chad Oberacker was activated from the disabled list, while third baseman Renato Nunez landed on the disabled list with a hamstring strain, and first baseman Anthony Aliotti was placed on the temporarily inactive list for the RockHounds.

RHP Parker Frazier, who was acquired from the Arizona organization earlier in the month, turned in his third straight quality start on Tuesday, allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 5 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for Midland. And Frazier has now failed to allow an earned run in 20 2/3 innings over his last 3 starts for the RockHounds. Catcher Nick Rickles singled and slugged a 2-run homer, while first baseman Rangel Ravelo singled, doubled and drove in a pair, and outfielder Chad Oberacker collected 2 hits and 2 walks, stole 2 bases and scored 3 times in the win. Meanwhile, Midland’s saves leader, RHP Ryan Dull, was promoted to Nashville and Stockton’s saves leader, RHP Brendan McCurry, was reassigned to the RockHounds.

After his promotion from Midland, RHP Nate Long didn’t waste any time making a positive impression on his new team in Nashville. On Wednesday, the 29-year-old minor league veteran allowed just 2 hits while striking out 5 over 7 shutout innings to earn his 1st win for the Sounds. And Long now leads all A’s minor league pitchers in strikeouts with 78. RHP Arnold Leon pitched a perfect frame in the 8th, and RHP Ryan Cook got the final three outs in the 9th to post his 7th save. Designated hitter Dayan Viciedo doubled with 2 outs in the 4th, and right fielder Jason Pridie singled him in for the Sounds’ first run, then left fielder Jake Smolinski doubled in Pridie for the Sounds’ second and final run of the game. Third baseman Ryan Roberts also doubled but was left stranded in the 6th, while shortstop Andy Parrino had a pair of singles for the Sounds. Meanwhile, RHP R.J. Alvarez was placed on the disabled list with a right forearm strain, while catcher Luke Carlin was released, and catcher Carson Blair was reassigned to Nashville from the RockHounds.

RHP Jake Sanchez turned in his best start yet for Midland, tossing 7 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win as the RockHounds extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. RHPs Ryan Dull and Bobby Wahl both contributed 1 scoreless inning in the shutout, and Hounds hurlers have now held their opponents scoreless for the last 16 innings. Catcher Carson Blair and left fielder Jaycob Brugman each had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while right fielder Josh Whitaker singled and doubled and has now hit safely in five straight games.

Gossett pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn his 1st victory of the season. Outfielder Joe Bennie had another big night at the plate, collecting a home run and a double and driving in 3, while first baseman Max Kuhn doubled in a run and walked twice. Shortstop Yairo Munoz singled in a pair, and outfielder Brett Vertigan drew 3 walks and scored 3 times for the Snappers.

With the game tied and the bases loaded in the bottom on the 7th inning on Wednesday, designated hitter Ryon Healy doubled to clear the bases and give the RockHounds a 3-run margin, all of which they would need with the Hooks coming back to put 2 runs on the board in the top of the 9th. Healy also had 2 singles and drove in another run earlier in the game. Second baseman Colin Walsh collected a pair of singles and a double as well while driving in 2 runs. Outfielder Josh Whitaker tripled, doubled, walked and scored twice, while shortstop Chad Pinder had 2 hits and drove in a run, and third baseman Wade Kirkland singled and drove in a pair. Starter Jake Sanchez had a rough outing for the RockHounds, allowing 8 runs on 11 hits over 5 innings of work, while RHP Tucker Healy earned the win with 2 shutout innings in relief. RHP Seth Frankoff tossed a scoreless 8th, and RHP Bobby Wahl picked up his 3rd save despite giving up 2 runs in the 9th for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, Tuesday’s winning pitcher for Midland, RHP Joey Wagman, was reassigned to Stockton.
