Third baseman Trace Loehr came a home run short of a cycle for the second straight night to help the Snappers win their third straight on Thursday. Loehr had 4 hits, including a triple and a double, while driving in a pair of runs, and the 22-year-old has now gone 10 for 20 over his last 4 games for Beloit. Second baseman Jesus Lopez singled twice and drove in a run, while designated hitter Jason Goldstein had 2 hits and drove in a pair, and left fielder Josh Vidales singled twice, walked twice and scored twice for the Snappers. Starter Kyle Twomey allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 5 innings of work, while RHP Jesus Zambrano gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Yordys Alejo pitched 2 perfect innings to pick up his 3rd win for Beloit.

This year’s 10th-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Jack Meggs, had a big night at the plate for the Lake Monsters on Sunday. The 22-year-old out of the University of Washington had 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 4 runs, and he’s now batting .533, going 8 for 15 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles over the first 5 games of his pro career for Vermont. First baseman Jarrett Costa had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and second baseman Jesus Lopez singled, doubled and drove in a pair. 18-year-old Panamanian RHP Abdiel Mendoza turned in an outstanding start on Sunday, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work to earn the win, while 6-foot-6 Dominican RHP Wandisson Charles tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to secure the save for the Lake Monsters.

The Snappers shut out Peoria on 3 hits to win for the fifth time in their last six games on Wednesday. Starter Matt Milburn was impressive, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 8 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 4th win, and the 23-year-old has now given up just 1 run while striking out 20 in 13 innings over his last two starts for Beloit. RHP Heath Bowers threw 3 scoreless frames in relief to complete the 3-hit shutout and post his 2nd save for the Snappers. After going 11 for 68 with 38 strikeouts over his last 20 games, right fielder JaVon Shelby busted out of his recent slump in a big way on Wednesday by belting a pair of home runs for Beloit. First baseman Luke Persico singled twice and drove in a run, while center fielder Mike Martin had a pair of hits and scored a run in his return to the Snappers after spending five games with Vermont. Meanwhile, Beloit RHP Mitchell Jordan was placed on the disabled list and 23-year-old Cuban RHP Miguel Romero was added to the Snappers roster on Wednesday.

With two men on and the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning, first baseman Matt Olson stepped to the plate and slugged a 3-run homer to give the Sounds the walk-off win in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Both of Tuesday’s contests were 7-inning affairs. Second baseman Joey Wendle‘s 3-run homer tied the game in the 6th, while left fielder Renato Nunez singled, doubled and scored a run, and shortstop Franklin Barreto and designated hitter Bruce Maxwell had a pair of hits apiece for the Sounds. Starter Paul Blackburn allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 2 innings of work, while LHP Patrick Schuster tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Simon Castro notched the win after throwing a scoreless frame in the top of the 7th for Nashville.

LHP Evan Manarino turned in his second straight impressive start for Stockton on Thursday, putting up 6 strikeouts over 7 shutout innings to post his 4th win for the Ports. The 24-year-old southern California native has now failed to allow a run or a walk in 13 innings over his last 2 starts for Stockton. And in his first appearance since returning to the Ports from the RockHounds, LHP Cody Stull pitched 2 perfect innings in relief to complete the 6-hit shutout as Stockton prevailed for the fifth time in its last six games on Thursday. Left fielder Tyler Ramirez had a big night at the plate for the Ports. Last year’s 7th-round draft pick provided all the offense his team would need with a pair of solo shots, one in the 4th inning and one in the 9th, to give him a total of 5 round-trippers on the season, and catcher Sean Murphy collected 3 hits, including a double, for Stockton. Meanwhile, after making a pair of relief appearances for the Ports, RHP Chris Jensen was reassigned to the RockHounds on Thursday.

And Mengden has now allowed just 1 run and struck out 12 without issuing a walk in 13 innings over his last 2 outings for Nashville. RHP Chris Smith pitched 2 perfect innings in relief to complete the 3-hit shutout as the Sounds won their third straight on Tuesday. Third baseman Matt Chapman tripled and also homered for the second straight night, notching his 10th round-tripper for Nashville. Second baseman Joey Wendle collected 4 hits, including a triple and a double, and drove in 2 runs, while first baseman Chris Parmelee singled twice, doubled and drove in a run. Catcher Matt McBride singled, doubled and drove in a pair, and center fielder Ryan LaMarre tripled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 for Nashville. And the A’s 2nd-round draft pick in 2014 has now allowed just 4 earned runs in 19 innings over his last 3 starts. RHP Aaron Kurcz gave up a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 9th for Nashville. First baseman Matt Olson homered for the second straight night, belting a 3-run blast in the 3rd inning and singling in another run in the 5th, while third baseman Matt Chapman slugged a solo shot in the 4th, and second baseman Joey Wendle drilled a 2-run drive in the 7th to help the Sounds win their second straight over Sacramento. In other news, Nashville manager Ryan Christenson told Sounds play-by-play man Jeff Hem on Monday’s pre-game show that he didn’t expect catcher Bruce Maxwell, who’s currently on the disabled list with an oblique injury, to be back before mid-June at the earliest.

After enduring his roughest outing of the season in his last appearance for Stockton, LHP Evan Manarino turned in one of his best starts of the year on Saturday. The 24-year-old was almost perfect over 6 innings, allowing just 1 base runner on a double and striking out 3 to earn his 3rd win for the Ports. RHP Chris Jensen, who was reassigned to Stockton from the Sounds on Saturday, permitted 1 run in 3 innings of relief to pick up the save for the Ports. First baseman Seth Brown continued his hot hitting of late, reaching base in all 4 of his plate appearances, on a triple, a walk and a pair of singles. He drove in Stockton’s first run and also stole a base in the game, and Brown is now 11 for 27 with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs over his last 7 games. Right fielder Brett Siddall doubled and scored a run, while second baseman Branden Cogswell singled in a pair for the Ports. Meanwhile, RHP Carlos Navas was reassigned to the RockHounds and Midland LHP Cody Stull was sent to Stockton on Saturday.

The Ports hit three home runs at The Hangar in Lancaster, but it wasn’t enough to keep Stockton from suffering its seventh straight loss on Sunday. Right fielder Seth Brown belted a home run in the top of the 2nd inning to tie the game 1-1, and then slugged his second solo shot of the day in the 7th to give him a team-leading 7 round-trippers on the season. Second baseman Josh Vidales smacked a solo shot of his own in the 6th, while third baseman Mikey White doubled twice and drove in a run, but that would account for all of Stockton’s scoring on Sunday. Starter Logan Shore had his rockiest outing of the season, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits over 4 1/3 frames to suffer his 3rd loss, while LHP Will Gilbert surrendered another 6 runs in just 1 2/3 innings of relief for the Ports.

Five home runs helped the RockHounds put 12 runs on the board in Wednesday’s win. Right fielder Tyler Marincov led the attack, hitting a 3-run homer in the 4th, then following up with solo shots in his next two at-bats in the 6th and the 8th. First baseman Viosergy Rosa singled, drew 3 walks, and hit a 2-run homer in the 1st, while catcher Argenis Raga slugged a 2-run shot in the 2nd, and second baseman Max Schrock doubled, singled twice, walked and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Third baseman Yairo Munoz went 1 for 5 and scored a run in his season debut after returning from the disabled list and, after a stint with the Sounds, shortstop Melvin Mercedes singled and walked in his return to the RockHounds. Starter James Naile gave up 3 runs in 2 2/3 innings of work, while his tandem-starting mate, RHP Grant Holmes, allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 6 over 4 scoreless frames to earn his 2nd win for Midland. And with Munoz and Mercedes returning to the RockHounds roster, RHP Jesus Zambrano was reassigned to the Snappers and infielder Jean Carlo Rodriguez was sent back to extended spring training in Arizona.
