Designated hitter Max Muncy’s 4th home run of the year provided the Ports’ only scoring until the 9th inning, when Stockton scored 2, thanks to a double by Muncy followed by RBI singles by catcher Ryan Ortiz and second baseman Antonio Lamas, to tie the game. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 13th inning, catcher Ryan Delgado slammed a walk-off solo shot to end the game. RHP Pedro Vidal threw 3 scoreless innings in relief and RHP Jonathan Joseph struck out 4 over 2 scoreless innings to earn the win. Starter Andrew Werner had his second straight rough outing for the River Cats, allowing 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings to take his 2nd loss. Outfielder Michael Taylor extended his hitting streak to 6 games on Tuesday, collecting 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and driving in a pair of runs. Designated hitter Jemile Weeks doubled to run his hit streak to 6 games as well, and Grant Green, getting his 5th start in 6 games at second base, had 2 hits in the game. And with Scott Sizemore’s knee injury in Anaheim, Weeks and Green could potentially be in competition for a little major league time in the near future. It appears that shortstop Andy Parrino may be in the mix as well.

RHP Murphy Smith had his second straight impressive start for Midland, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, but he was still saddled with the loss. Outfielder Jake Goebbert had 2 of the RockHounds 4 hits on the night, including a double, and shortstop Dusty Coleman had a hit, walk and a stolen base in the RockHounds’ first loss of the season.

RHP Drew Granier had his second straight solid start for Stockton, allowing 2 earned runs on just 2 hits, both home runs, while striking out 7 over 5 innings of work but still took the loss. Second baseman Michael Fabiaschi hit his 2nd home run since joining the team, outfielder Dusty Robinson collected a pair of hits, and catcher Ryan Ortiz and outfielder Bobby Crocker both doubled in the loss. Meanwhile, shortstop Addison Russell sat out his 4th straight game since tweaking his ankle last Friday.

RHP Raul Alcantara rebounded nicely on Tuesday after a disastrous debut last Thursday, allowing just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 6 over 7 innings of work to earn his 1st win for the Snappers. Catcher Bruce Maxwell had 2 hits, including a home run, and drove in 3 runs, while third baseman Renato Nunez contributed a solo shot in the win.

Starter Bruce Billings had a rough outing in his season debut with Sacramento, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits in just 2 innings of work to take the loss. Outfielder Michael Taylor had a pair of hits, walked and scored a run. He’s now had a hit in every game this season, as has Jemile Weeks, who started his 4th game as the designated hitter, and went 1 for 3 with 2 walks, 2 runs and a stolen base.

In his first start since 2011, RHP Arnold Leon allowed just 1 hit and no walks over 5 scoreless innings to earn the win for the RockHounds, who are now 5-0 to start the season. Relievers Paul Smyth, Frank Gailey and Kyler Newby combined for 4 scoreless innings in relief. Outfielder Chad Oberacker had 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases, 1 walk and 1 RBI. Designated hitter Anthony Aliotti had a pair of hits, a pair of walks and an RBI, and third baseman Jefry Marte drove in 2 runs for the RockHounds.

Starter Andres Avila allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 4 innings of work to take the loss in his debut with the Ports. Outfielder Bobby Crocker collected a pair of doubles and drove in 1 of Stockton’s 2 runs on the night. First baseman Max Muncy had a hit and 3 walks in his 5 plate appearances to keep his batting average at .500 for the season. Shortstop Addison Russell missed his 3rd straight game after tweaking his ankle running out an infield hit on Friday.

After tweaking his mechanics a bit, the A’s have decided to give their 14th-round draft pick from last year, RHP Austin House, a try as a starter. And in his first start with Beloit, he gave up 3 runs in 5 innings to take the loss. Last year’s 8th-round pick, Kris Hall, took over and allowed 1 run on 6 hits over 3 innings of work. Outfielder Brett Vertigan collected 3 hits, including a triple, stole a base and scored the Snappers’ only run in the loss.
