Worth Noting: Starter Bruce Billings allowed 5 runs in 5 innings of work to take the loss. Right-hander Fautino De Los Santos came on to toss 2 scoreless innings to give the River Cats a chance to climb back into it. Third baseman Stephen Parker drove in first baseman Kila Ka’aihue in the 7th inning and again in the 9th. Sacramento added another run in the 9th when outfielder Jermaine Mitchell drove in outfielder Shane Peterson, who was making his first appearance with the River Cats since his promotion from Midland.

Worth Noting: Shortstop Yordy Cabrera drove in the game-winning run for the Ports in the bottom of the 9th inning on Monday night. Catcher Beau Taylor collected 4 hits, including a double, and outfielder Dusty Robinson and third baseman B.A. Vollmuth contributed 3 hits apiece. Starter Sean Murphy had one of his shakier outings for Stockton, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings of work. Right-hander Zack Thronton picked up the win, despite giving up the tying-run to San Jose in the top of the 9th.

Worth Noting: Outfielder Rashun Dixon hit a 2-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to clinch the victory for the Bees on Monday night. Third baseman Wade Kirkland hit a 2-run homer in the 6th inning, and shortstop Sean Jamieson hit a 2-run shot in the 7th. Starter Max Perlman allowed 5 runs over 7 innings, and right-hander Jose Macias picked up the win in relief, despite allowing 2 runs in the 9th to tie the game.

Tuesday, June 26th: Cats Lose Despite Straily’s Best Efforts as Ports and Bees Fall

Worth Noting: Starter Daniel Straily had another solid outing for Sacramento, allowing 2 runs while striking out 8 in 6 innings of work, but the bullpen couldn’t keep the Cats in the game. Right-hander Nate Long, who was just called up from Stockton, gave up 5 runs in 1 inning of relief, while Fautino De Los Santos surrendered 4 runs in just 2/3 of an inning to raise his ERA to 8.64. Second baseman Luke Hughes clubbed a 2-run homer and also took to the mound to record the final out for the River Cats.

The Ports’ lineup couldn’t generate much offense on Tuesday, but catcher Max Stassi, serving as the designated hitter for the day, contributed 2 hits, including his 12th double. And after his big 3-homer game on Monday, outfielder Josh Whitaker went 0 for 4 on Tuesday night.

Worth Noting: Sacramento lost a game on Friday that had been suspended from the previous night. Right-hander Brad Peacock started the game on Thursday and allowed 2 runs and struck out 5 over 3 innings of work. Left-hander Fabio Castro picked up where Peacock left off on Friday and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 2 innings to earn his 6th loss. And after coming in to take over for Castro, right-hander Fautino De Los Santos gave up 5 runs in 1 inning to raise his ERA with Sacramento to 7.11.

Designated hitter Miles Head blasted a 2-run homer in the 1st inning to give the Ports the lead, which they never relinquished.
