Starter Jake Sanchez allowed just 3 hits while striking out 4 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 9th win for Midland on Monday. And it was the second straight start in which Sanchez has not allowed an earned run over 6 innings of work for the RockHounds. RHP Tucker Healy tossed a scoreless 7th and RHP Ryan Doolittle got the final six outs to complete the 4-hit shutout for the Hounds. Designated hitter Ryon Healy had 2 hits and 2 walks and drove in 2 runs, while right fielder Matt Olson singled, doubled and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Healy was named the Texas League Player of the Week, while LHP Sean Manaea was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week. Healy went 12 for 27 with 2 doubles and 2 home runs while driving in 9 runs last week. And Manaea struck out 9 in 7 shutout innings to earn the win in his debut for Midland last week after coming over from Kansas City in the Ben Zobrist trade.

RHP Parker Frazier, who was acquired from the Arizona organization earlier in the month, turned in his third straight quality start on Tuesday, allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 5 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for Midland. And Frazier has now failed to allow an earned run in 20 2/3 innings over his last 3 starts for the RockHounds. Catcher Nick Rickles singled and slugged a 2-run homer, while first baseman Rangel Ravelo singled, doubled and drove in a pair, and outfielder Chad Oberacker collected 2 hits and 2 walks, stole 2 bases and scored 3 times in the win. Meanwhile, Midland’s saves leader, RHP Ryan Dull, was promoted to Nashville and Stockton’s saves leader, RHP Brendan McCurry, was reassigned to the RockHounds.

RHP Parker Frazier, recently acquired from the Arizona organization, allowed just 3 hits over 8 shutout innings to earn the win for the RockHounds on Thursday. And Frazier has now tossed 14 2/3 scoreless innings over his last two starts for Midland. RHP Ryan Doolittle returned from the disabled list to toss a scoreless 9th and complete the 4-hit shutout for the RockHounds. Left fielder Jaycob Brugman had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in a run, while center fielder Chad Oberacker singled, doubled, tripled and scored twice. Right fielder Matt Olson slugged his 9th home run, his first since June 20, and second baseman Colin Walsh had a pair of doubles to run his league-leading total to 29.

Frazier scattered 7 hits over 6 2/3 shutout innings to earn his 1st win for Midland. Relievers Omar Duran, Tucker Healy and Ryan Dull combined to throw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, with Dull earning his 11th save for the Hounds. Right fielder Matt Olson singled, doubled and drove in his 40th run of the season for the RockHounds.

Third baseman Matt Chapman continued his power surge, collecting his 16th home run and his 16th double on Wednesday. Chapman and outfielder Tyler Marincov combined on back-to-back home runs to lead off the 4th inning, while first baseman John Nogowski had 2 hits and drove in a pair for the Ports. RHP Sam Roberts then tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief to complete the shutout and earn his 1st save for Stockton. The Ports put 9 runs on the board on 14 hits on Thursday. Center fielder Brett Vertigan collected 3 hits, including a triple, and drove in a run, while right fielder J.P. Sportman singled 3 times and drove in 3, and second baseman Branden Cogswell also had 3 singles and drove in a run. RHP Ryan Cook picked up his 5th save despite putting two runners on in the bottom of the 9th. First baseman Anthony Aliotti went 4 for 4 and singled in the tying run in the top of the 9th, while Craig Gentry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run for Nashville. Gentry also singled and scored in the 1st on an RBI single by designated hitter Nate Freiman, who had a pair of hits for the Sounds.

The 37-year-old allowed just 2 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6 over 8 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win as the Sounds won their seventh straight. And with Sunday’s start, Zito has now thrown 14 scoreless innings over his last two starts. RHP R.J. Alvarez came in to get the final three outs in the 9th for his 3rd save. The Sounds had just 3 hits in the game, with designated hitter Nate Freiman doubling in the team’s only run in the bottom of the 1st.

Barry Zito played for the River Cats during their inaugural season in Sacramento in 2000, earning 8 wins for the Cats before being promoted by the A’s and posting 7 wins for Oakland later that same season. And 15 years later, Zito returned to Raley Field to shut down the Cats, allowing just 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 5 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 2nd win for Nashville on Tuesday. LHP Ryan Verdugo followed with 1 2/3 scoreless innings and RHP R.J. Alvarez got the final four outs to complete the Sounds’ second straight shutout of Sacramento and earn his 1st save for Nashville. First baseman Anthony Aliotti singled, doubled and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Joey Wendle had a pair of hits and stole a base, and third baseman Ryan Roberts doubled and drove in a run for the Sounds. And with LHP Sean Doolittle returning to action for the A’s, RHP Angel Castro was optioned back to Nashville.

With a man on and his team down by two runs in the bottom of the 4th on Thursday, third baseman Jose Brizuela slugged a 2-run homer to tie the game for the Snappers. Brizuela also singled, walked and stole a base in the game. First baseman Sandber Pimentel belted his 5th home run to put Beloit on the board in the 2nd, while outfielder Max Kuhn doubled in a pair of runs in the 3rd, and catcher Jose Chavez doubled and came around to score the decisive run on second baseman Edwin Diaz’s sacrifice fly in the 4th. Starter Daniel Gossett allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, over 5 innings of work to post his 2nd win, while LHP Jerad Grundy tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and LHP Jose Torres got the final four outs to earn his 3rd save for the Snappers.
