Designated hitter Chris Carter had a huge night at the plate to lead Nashville to victory on Tuesday. The 30-year-old slugger singled, tripled, homered, walked and drove in 5 runs, including the tying and winning runs in the top of the 8th for the Sounds. Third baseman Renato Nunez singled twice and scored 3 times, while catcher Beau Taylor walked and singled in a run. Starter Ben Bracewell picked up the win despite surrendering 5 runs in 7 innings of work, while RHP Raul Alcantara tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to secure his 3rd save for the Sounds.

Brown tripled and scored a run in the 4th inning and then slugged a solo shot in the 6th. The blast was Brown’s team-leading 20th home run of the season. Shortstop Sheldon Neuse singled, homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Ports, and Brown and Neuse have both belted 3 home runs over their last 3 games for Stockton. Five home runs helped the Sounds win a slugfest in Reno on Saturday. First baseman Matt Olson reached base 4 times, collecting 3 hits, including his 23rd home run, while also drawing a walk, and Olson has now gone 7 for 18 with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs over his last 4 games for the Sounds. Center fielder Yairo Munoz singled, homered and drove in 4 runs, while third baseman Renato Nunez doubled, walked, hit his minor-league-leading 29th home run and drove in a pair. Shortstop Franklin Barreto singled and homered, and designated hitter Chris Carter doubled, walked and hit a 2-run homer for the Sounds. Starter Ben Bracewell gave up 8 runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, while LHP Felix Doubront tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to notch his 2nd win for Nashville. Meanwhile, former Sounds catcher Ryan Lavarnway was designated for assignment by the A’s, and Nashville RHPs Jesse Hahn and Tucker Healy were both placed on the disabled list on Saturday. LHP Evan Manarino turned in one of his best starts of the season, striking out 7 without allowing a walk while throwing 7 shutout innings for Stockton, and undrafted free agent LHP Brandon Marsonek tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 7-hit shutout on Sunday. Ports batters continued their recent offensive outburst by blasting five home runs in the game. First baseman Sandber Pimentel had 3 hits and homered for the second straight night, while shortstop Sheldon Neuse homered for the third time in the last three days, belting a 3-run blast to put the Ports on the board in the 4th. Center fielder Luis Barrera slugged a solo shot, and catcher Argenis Raga and left fielder Brett Siddall both singled, homered and drove in a pair for the Ports.

The 22-year-old is now 8 for 12 with 3 walks, 3 extra-base hits and 5 RBIs over his last 3 games and is batting .386 since being promoted to the Ports early last week. Stockton came back to earn its third win in its last four games on Saturday. 23-year-old Cuban RHP Norge Ruiz made his first start for Stockton and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits over 4 innings of work. RHP Brendan Butler replaced him on the mound and was impressive in relief, throwing 5 scoreless frames to earn his 2nd win for Stockton. Center fielder Skye Bolt, who hit a grand slam on Friday night, singled, walked, homered, stole a base and scored twice on Saturday, while first baseman Sandber Pimentel had a pair of doubles for the Ports. Second baseman Nate Mondou hit his 1st home run for Stockton, and right fielder Seth Brown had a pair of hits and singled in the tying run in the 5th inning. Left fielder Brett Siddall, who walked and moved to third on Pimentel’s second double in the bottom of the 8th, eventually came in to score the winning run on a wild pitch. Matt Chapman, serving as the designated hitter for Stockton, went 0 for 4 in his first rehab appearance for the Ports and is scheduled to make the start at third base for Stockton on Sunday. In other news, RHP Brandon Bailey was promoted to the Ports from the Snappers and Stockton outfielder Tyler Ramirez was reassigned to the RockHounds on Saturday.

Stockton won with the help of four home runs on Friday, the biggest of which came off the bat of center fielder Skye Bolt. With the bases loaded, two outs and the Ports down by two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Bolt stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam to give Stockton a lead it would never surrender. Left fielder Tyler Ramirez, designated hitter Brett Siddall and catcher Argenis Raga each homered in the first two frames, but the Ports were still down by a pair of runs before Bolt’s big blast. Starter Kyle Friedrichs allowed 5 runs over 5 innings of work in his return to Stockton from Double-A Midland, but he still managed to pick up the win for the Ports. RHPs Joey Wagman and Armando Ruiz each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, with Ruiz securing his 1st save for Stockton. In other news, first baseman Chris Iriart was placed on the disabled list on Friday, while Stockton LHP Cody Stull was reassigned to the RockHounds. 23-year-old Cuban RHP Norge Ruiz was promoted from the AZL A’s to the Ports and is scheduled to make his first start for Stockton on Saturday, and A’s third baseman Matt Chapman is also set to join Stockton on Saturday on a rehab assignment.

The Sounds notched their first win since last Tuesday on Monday night in Nashville. RHP Paul Blackburn turned in another solid start for the Sounds, allowing 2 runs over 5 1/3 frames to earn his 5th win, and the 23-year-old now has an ERA of 1.73 over 5 starts during the month of June. RHP Simon Castro tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Jake Sanchez got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 3rd save for Nashville. Third baseman Renato Nunez hit his league-leading 20th home run, a 2-run shot in the 1st inning to give the Sounds an early lead, while catcher Matt McBride belted a 3-run blast in the bottom of the 4th, and right fielder Mark Canha and designated hitter Ryan Lavarnway had a pair of hits apiece in the win. Meanwhile, catcher Beau Taylor and RHP Kyle Finnegan were reassigned to Nashville from Midland on Monday, while RHP Ben Bracewell was returned to the RockHounds.
