On a day when all the A’s affiliates went down to defeat, right fielder Vince Fernandez turned in the most impressive performance of the day. The 26-year-old Livermore native, whom the A’s picked up in the minor league portion of the Rule-5 draft in the offseason, collected 4 hits, including a home run and a triple, while driving in 3 runs, and his 1.025 OPS is now best among all A’s minor leaguers with at least 100 at-bats. Third baseman Vimael Machin singled and homered, while first baseman Dermis Garcia doubled and drew a pair of walks, and designated hitter Stephen Piscotty went 2 for 4 and was hit by a pitch in his fourth rehab game with the Aviators. Starter Adrian Martinez allowed 5 runs in 4 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Miguel Romero was charged with 4 runs in relief to suffer the loss for Las Vegas.
