Las Vegas outlasted Salt Lake on Sunday to even their six-games series at two games apiece. Catcher Carlos Perez delivered the big blow, slugging his third grand slam of the month with two outs in the top of the second inning to give Las Vegas a six-run lead. And Perez has now compiled 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .708 through 21 games in July. Center fielder Skye Bolt tripled, singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run, while first baseman Francisco Pena singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Aviators. Starter Jesus Luzardo allowed 3 runs on 6 hits over 5 frames to earn the victory for Las Vegas.

Skye Bolt continues to be the ultimate AAAA player by tearing up the PCL after not being able to hit water after he fell out of a boat for the Athletics. I have a sneaking suspicion Luzardo may be moved unless the A’s refuse to deal him until he’s worthless aka the “Barretto Proxy.” His value has already dropped substantially since last year.
