The Hounds shut out the Hooks on just five hits on Friday. Shortstop Edwin Diaz slugged a grand slam in the 3rd inning to help the RockHounds build an early lead that they would never relinquish. Diaz then added a three-run blast in the 6th inning and also drew a walk in the game, and the 23-year-old has now gone 5 for 13 with 3 home runs and 11 RBIs over his last 3 games for Midland. RHP James Naile turned in a strong start, allowing just 4 hits over 6 shutout innings, while LHP Tyler Alexander tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP John Gorman got the final three outs in the 9th to complete the shutout. Meanwhile, RockHounds RHP Trey Cochran-Gill was reassigned to Stockton on Friday.

Las Vegas suffered its second straight loss to Albuquerque on Friday. RHP Marco Estrada made the start and gave up 4 runs over 3 innings of work in his first rehab appearance for the Aviators, while RHP Daniel Mengden allowed 3 runs in 3 innings of relief, and RHP J.B. Wendelken surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 9th to take the loss for Las Vegas. Right fielder Mark Payton hit a two-run homer in the 2nd inning, slugged a solo shot in the 5th and also singled in the game, while first baseman Seth Brown had 3 hits, including his team-leading 35th home run – a two-run shot – for the Aviators in the loss. Meanwhile, catcher Beau Taylor, who had been designated for assignment, was claimed off waivers by Toronto on Friday.

RHP Angello Infante turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 run over 5 frames to earn the win, while LHP Jhenderson Hurtado was charged with 2 unearned runs in 4 innings of relief to secure his 1st save for the Snappers.

Starter Seth Shuman was charged with 1 unearned run in 3 1/3 innings of work, while LHP Yorlenis Noa threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory for Vermont.
