TEXAS LEAGUE  (Double-A)

Midland RockHounds  2

Frisco RoughRiders       1

WP: Howard 4-2 / 1.81

HR: Calabuig (1)

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Brian Howard

(6 IP / 7 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 4 K / Win)

RHP Brian Howard turned in another outstanding start for the RockHounds, throwing 6 shutout innings to earn his 4th win for Midland on Monday. And the 24-year-old has now failed to allow an earned run over his last 12 2/3 innings of work. RHP Trey Cochran-Gill tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP John Gorman allowed a run in the 9th but still recorded his 3rd save for the RockHounds. Left fielder Chase Calabuig walked, singled and slugged a two-run homer to account for all the RockHounds’ runs, while right fielder Luis Barrera singled, stole a base and scored a run. Designated hitter Mikey White doubled, and catcher Collin Theroux singled and walked in his return to the RockHounds from Triple-A Las Vegas. Meanwhile, RHP Kyle Finnegan was placed on the injured list, while RHP Grant Holmes was activated from the injured list, and catcher Robert Mullen was reassigned from Midland to Stockton on Monday.

(2 for 5 / Double / 3 RBIs)

RHP Parker Dunshee had a rare rough start for the Aviators, allowing 5 runs over 5 1/3 frames to suffer his 1st loss for Las Vegas. Center fielder Dustin Fowler singled and doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs in the 7th inning, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse drew a pair of walks and doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 in the 9th, but it wasn’t enough to help the Aviators prevail on Monday. Shortstop Jorge Mateo had a pair of hits, including his 10th double to increase his team-leading extra-base-hit total to 25.

But RHP Eric Marinez was charged with 6 runs, 5 earned, in 1 inning of relief to suffer his 2nd loss for the Snappers. Catcher Skyler Weber singled in the Snappers’ sole run in the loss. Meanwhile, Beloit outfielders Payton Squier and Anthony Churlin both landed on the injured list on Monday, and catcher JJ Schwarz and infielder Brallan Perez were reassigned to the Snappers from Stockton.
