On a day when all the A’s minor league affiliates went down to defeat, Beloit RHP Joe DeMers turned in the most impressive performance among A’s minor leaguers. Last year’s 11th-round draft pick for the A’s allowed just 2 hits while walking none and striking out 7 over 6 shutout innings and exited with the game a scoreless tie on Friday. But RHP Calvin Coker was charged with 4 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to suffer his 2nd loss for the Snappers. First baseman Nick Ward had a pair of hits, including a double, and drew a walk, while third baseman Cobie Vance drove in the Snappers’ sole run in the loss. Meanwhile, Beloit RHP Reid Birlingmair landed on the injured list on Friday and RHP Michael Danielak was assigned to the Snappers from extended spring training.

Las Vegas fell to Fresno on Friday to see its four-game winning streak snapped. Starter Tanner Anderson allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 6 innings of work to suffer the loss. First baseman Eric Campbell collected 3 hits for the second straight night and drove in the Aviators’ sole run, while left fielder Mark Payton doubled and drew a walk for Las Vegas in the loss.

RHP James Naile turned in a strong start for Midland, but the RockHounds fell in a walk-off on Friday. Naile permitted 2 runs on just 2 hits over 6 2/3 innings of work, and he left the game with a one-run lead. But RHP Norge Ruiz allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in the bottom of the 9th to suffer the loss. Left fielder Luke Persico tripled, doubled and drove in a run, while designated hitter Nate Mondou drew a walk and singled in a run, and catcher Jonah Heim doubled in a run for the RockHounds in the loss.

Stockton suffered its second straight loss to Modesto on Friday. Starter Daulton Jefferies, making his fourth appearance since returning from Tommy John surgery this season, turned in another solid outing, allowing just 2 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 3 scoreless innings. And the 23-year-old has now issued just 1 walk while striking out 18 over 12 innings of work this season. His tandem-pitching partner, LHP Jared Poche, gave up 4 runs over 4 frames to suffer his 3rd loss. Third baseman Trace Loehr singled, doubled and scored Stockton’s sole run, while shortstop Nick Allen had a pair of hits for the Ports in the loss.
