On a night when no A’s affiliate was able to notch a win, Nashville second baseman Franklin Barreto turned in the most impressive performance of any player in the system. The 22-year-old slugged a two-run homer, his 16th shot of the season, in the 1st inning while also drilling a pair of doubles for the Sounds. Center fielder Dustin Fowler tripled and stole a base, while designated hitter Anthony Garcia doubled in a run for Nashville. Starter Raul Alcantara surrendered 4 runs in just 2 innings of work to suffer the loss as the Sounds fell for the sixth time in their last seven games on Wednesday.

The RockHounds came up a run short in Corpus Christi on Wednesday. Starter Brian Howard surrendered 8 runs, 3 earned, in just 2 2/3 innings of work to suffer his 4th loss for Midland. 22-year-old Dominican center fielder Luis Barrera singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, while shortstop Richie Martin had 2 hits, walked and drove in a pair. Right fielder J.P. Sportman singled twice and stole a base, and left fielder Brett Vertigan had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

Stockton fell for the fifth time in its last six games on Wednesday. LHP Evan Manarino turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work, and he left with the game a 2-2 tie. But LHP Will Gilbert gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief to take the loss for Stockton. Left fielder Luke Persico and third baseman Brallan Perez each singled and walked twice, while first baseman Viosergy Rosa and shortstop Edwin Diaz each drew a pair of walks and drove in a run for the Ports.

The Snappers suffered their third straight loss on Wednesday. Starter Jean Ruiz surrendered 7 runs, 6 earned, over 4 frames to take his 10th loss, while RHP Slater Lee tossed 2 scoreless innings of relief in his Beloit debut. 19-year-old Cuban left fielder Lazaro Armenteros collected 3 hits, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while second baseman Ryan Gridley also had 3 hits and drove in a run. Catcher Jordan Devencenzi doubled and drove in a run, and center fielder Austin Beck singled twice for the Snappers. Meanwhile, Beloit RHP Brady Feigl landed on the disabled list on Wednesday.

The Lake Monsters lost for the ninth time in their last eleven games on Wednesday. Starter Reid Birlingmair allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 3 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Caleb Evans gave up 4 runs in just 2/3 of an inning of relief to take the loss for the Lake Monsters. 18-year-old Dominican second baseman Marcos Brito singled, doubled, tripled, stole a base and drove in a run, while left fielder Joseph Pena tripled and scored a run. Catcher Jose Rivas had a pair of hits and drove in a run, and third baseman Jonah Bride singled, walked and stole a base in the loss.
