The Lake Monsters lost for the eighth time in their last nine games on Monday, but left fielder Alfonso Rivas turned in another solid performance for Vermont. This year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s, who has primarily played first base, made his third start of the season in left field on Monday and collected 3 hits, including his team-leading 13th double, and drove in a pair of runs for the Lake Monsters. This year’s third overall pick for the A’s, shortstop Jeremy Eierman, singled twice, doubled, drove in a run and committed his 12th error. 20-year-old Dominican RHP Jose Mora made the start and allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 5 frames, while last year’s 15th-round pick, LHP Josh Reagan, gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 2 2/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss for the Lake Monsters. Meanwhile, Vermont RHP Brandon Withers was reassigned to the Snappers and catcher Cooper Goldby was activated from the disabled list on Monday.

The AZL A’s suffered their second straight loss on Monday. This year’s 22nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Aiden McIntyre, turned in a solid start, striking out 7 while throwing 3 hitless and scoreless innings. 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Jesus Monserratt gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer his 2nd loss for the A’s. This year’s 6th-round pick, left fielder Lawrence Butler, tripled in a run, while 34th-round shortstop Nick Ward doubled and scored twice, and 21-year-old Venezuelan center fielder Yhoelnys Gonzalez singled, walked and tallied his team-leading 8th stolen base in the loss.
