The RockHounds suffered a one-run loss on Tuesday, but third baseman Edwin Diaz had a big night at the plate for the Hounds. In just his second game back in Midland after spending the past two weeks with Stockton, the 22-year-old showed how glad he is to be back. Diaz drilled a three-run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning to give his team a three-run advantage and then, after Frisco had taken a one-run lead, he slugged a solo shot in the 7th to tie things up for the Hounds. RHP Jesus Luzardo turned in another solid start, allowing just 1 run over 5 frames, and he’s now allowed just 2 earned runs over his last 43 innings of work for the RockHounds. Luzardo left the game with a three-run lead., but RHP Miguel Romero gave up 4 runs in the 6th, and LHP Jarret Martin surrendered the winning run in the top of the 8th to take the loss on Tuesday. And with Diaz’s return to the RockHounds roster, Midland’s J.P. Sportman was sent to the Sounds.
