Beloit bested the River Bandits by one run for the second straight night on Thursday. Starter Wyatt Marks may have issued 5 walks, but he also tossed 6 scoreless and hitless innings, and the 23-year-old has now compiled an ERA of 1.96 over his last 4 starts for the Snappers. Marks exited with the game a scoreless tie on Thursday. Second baseman Ryan Gridley doubled in a run in the top of the 8th and also drew a pair of walks in the game, while left fielder Mickey McDonald homered in the 9th, and catcher Jordan Devencenzi and right fielder Jack Meggs had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers. RHP Seth Martinez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP Nick Highberger allowed 1 unearned run in the bottom of the 9th but was still able to secure his 2nd save for the Snappers.

The Sounds suffered their second straight loss to Iowa and fell for the fourth time in their last five games on Thursday. Starter James Naile tossed 5 scoreless innings, but things took a turn for the worse in the 6th, and he ended up being charged with 6 runs over 5 1/3 frames to take his 8th loss for Nashville. RHP Liam Hendriks tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief in his first appearance since being sent down to the Sounds. Catcher Bruce Maxwell had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while right fielder Ramon Laureano singled twice, and first baseman Nick Martini drew a walk to extend his on-base streak to 65 games. Meanwhile, A’s RHP Daniel Mengden is set to make a rehab start for the Sounds on Friday. And in other news, Nashville LHP Eric Jokisch was placed on the disabled and Sounds RHP Kyle Finnegan was reassigned to the RockHounds on Thursday.

Starter Corey Walter allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work to suffer the loss, while RHP Miguel Romero tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Kyle Finnegan gave up 1 run in 1 2/3 innings in his return to the RockHounds. Nate Mondou, making just his second start in left field, had a big night at the plate for the Ports. This year’s third overall draft pick for the A’s, shortstop Jeremy Eierman, slugged his 2nd home run in the 7th inning to bring Vermont back within a run, but that was as close as the Lake Monsters would come as they fell to Tri-City on Thursday.

The AZL A’s suffered their third loss in their last four games on Thursday. 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Angello Infante allowed 3 runs over 5 frames to take the loss. This year’s 27th-round draft pick for the A’s, right fielder Chase Calabuig, had 2 hits, including a double, and drew a walk, while 18-year-old Dominican shortstop Yerdel Vargas singled, walked twice and drove in a run, and this year’s 30th-round pick, first baseman Gio Dingcong, doubled and scored a run for the A’s in the loss.
