First baseman Nick Martini’s big bat helped the Sounds snap their four-game losing streak on Thursday. With two men on, two outs and his team down by a run in the top of the 8th inning, first baseman Nick Martini stepped to the plate and homered for the second straight game to bring home 3 runs and provide the margin of victory for Nashville. Martini also singled and walked in the game and extended his hitting streak to 16 games and his on-base streak to 47 games. Second baseman Franklin Barreto singled, doubled, walked and scored twice, while right felder Ramon Laureano singled twice, drew a walk and drove in 2 runs, and left fielder Anthony Garcia and third baseman Sheldon Neuse had a pair of hits apiece for the Sounds. Starter Edwin Jackson struggled, allowing 5 runs in just 4 frames, while RHP Ryan Dull tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Josh Lucas got the final four outs for the Sounds to secure his 3rd save. In other news, the A’s recalled Nashville RHPs Chris Bassitt and Carlos Ramirez and sent LHP Danny Coulombe to the Sounds on Thursday.

RHP Joel Seddon turned in a strong start for the RockHounds on Thursday but still ended up being saddled with the loss. Seddon had a no-hitter through the first 5 frames and had a shutout through 7 2/3 innings before surrendering a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the 8th inning. The 25-year-old ended up being charged with 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 over 8 innings of work to suffer his 4th loss. RHP Miguel Romero pitched a perfect 9th in his Double-A debut. Stockton had its four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday. LHP Zack Erwin had a shaky start, allowing 4 runs over 5 frames to suffer his 5th loss, while A’s LHP Ryan Buchter allowed 1 hit and struck out 2 in 1 scoreless inning of relief in his second rehab appearance for the Ports. Third baseman William Toffey homered to tie the game in the 2nd inning, drew a walk and drove in another run on a groundout in the 8th. Right fielder Dairon Blanco singled, doubled and tallied his team-leading 20th stolen base, while second baseman Nate Mondou singled, walked twice and stole a base, and center fielder Boog Powell doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored twice in his fourth rehab game for Stockton.

Despite an outstanding start by RHP Wyatt Marks, the Snappers lost in extra innings on Thursday. Marks allowed just 2 hits and struck out 7 while throwing 7 scoreless innings for the Snappers. He left the game with his team up by a run, but RHP Jesus Zambrano gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 8th and then again in the bottom of the 10th, and RHP Nick Highberger was charged with the winning run in the 11th to take the loss as Peoria won in a walk-off. Second baseman Trace Loehr singled, doubled and drove in a run, while catcher Jordan Devencenzi had a pair of hits in the loss.
