The Snappers shut out Peoria on just five hits on Thursday. RHP Xavier Altamirano turned in another outstanding start, allowing just 2 hits while throwing 6 shutout frames to earn his 2nd win, and the 23-year-old has now failed to allow a run in 13 innings over his last two starts for the Snappers. RHP Nick Highberger threw 1 scoreless inning in relief, and RHP Jesus Zambrano tossed the final 2 frames to complete the shutout and earn his 1st save for the Snappers. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros singled and slugged his 4th home run to tie him for the team lead despite playing in just 16 games. Designated hitter Logan Farrar doubled and drew a pair of walks, while center fielder Austin Beck singled twice for Beloit.

The Sounds were shut out on eight hits on Thursday. Left fielder Anthony Garcia collected three of those hits, while center fielder BJ Boyd doubled for the Sounds’ only extra-base hit in the game. Starter Kendall Graveman allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, over 6 innings of work to suffer the loss, while RHP Carlos Ramirez tossed 2 scoreless innings in his Nashville debut.

The RockHounds won their second straight in RHP Logan Shore’s Double-A debut on Thursday. Shore allowed 1 unearned run on just 2 hits but also walked 3 and threw 89 pitches over just 4 2/3 frames. LHP Cody Stull tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, while RHP Nolan Blackwood got the final six outs for the RockHounds to record his 4th save. Left fielder Brett Vertigan had 3 hits, including a double, while second baseman Eli White singled and doubled, and center fielder J.P. Sportman singled in the tying and winning runs in the 7th inning for the RockHounds.

The Ports prevailed on Thursday to run their league-best record to 28-19. Left fielder Dairon Blanco singled, tripled, walked, drove in 2 runs and swiped a pair of bases to extend his team-leading total to 16, while right fielder Luis Barrera collected 4 singles and stole a base. Shortstop Kevin Merrell singled, doubled, walked and drove in the tying and winning runs in the 6th inning, and catcher Jonah Heim and second baseman Nate Mondou had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. Starter Dustin Hurlbutt was solid in his season debut for Stockton, throwing 3 2/3 hitless and scoreless innings while striking out 5. LHP Evan Manarino picked up the win in his season debut despite giving up 2 runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief for the Ports.
