In Other News…

Initial rosters were announced for the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday. Catcher Sean Murphy, infielder Sheldon Neuse, outfielder Tyler Ramirez (all currently playing for Midland) and RHPs Logan Shore and Miguel Romero (both with Stockton) are all set play for the Mesa Solar Sox. The A’s are expected to add a couple of more players to the squad at some point. Shore was the 2nd-round pick, Murphy was the 3rd-round pick and Ramirez was the 7th-round pick for the A’s in last year’s draft, while Neuse was acquired from Washington in the Ryan Madson/Sean Doolittle deal, and Romero was signed as an international free agent out of Cuba in the offseason. Neuse has put up an impressive .429 on-base percentage since joining the A’s organization, while Ramirez is boasting a .330 batting average for the RockHounds, and Murphy has a .251/.309/.399 slash line for Stockton and Midland this season. Shore has put up an ERA of 4.11 over 16 games for Stockton while also missing a couple of months with a lat strain, and Romero has compiled a 4.88 ERA in 14 games for Stockton and Beloit this season.
