20-year-old Colombian RHP Jean Ruiz turned in an outstanding start to help the Lake Monsters score their sixth win in their last seven games on Monday. Ruiz allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk while throwing 6 shutout innings to earn the victory for Vermont, and he’s now allowed just 6 earned runs over 42 innings of work to post an impressive 1.29 ERA for the Lake Monsters this season. Right fielder Greg Deichmann drew a pair of walks and drilled a 3-run homer, while first baseman Aaron Arruda homered and doubled. Center fielder Logan Farrar singled twice, doubled and drove in 3 runs, and third baseman Will Toffey had 3 hits and scored 3 runs for the Lake Monsters.

Starter Ben Bracewell led the Sounds to a shutout win over Iowa on Monday. The 26-year-old allowed just 4 hits while striking out 5 over 6 shutout innings to notch his 4th win for Nashville. LHP Felix Doubront and RHPs Josh Smith and Lou Trivino each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief to complete the 7-hit shutout for the Sounds, while former A’s farmhand Seth Frankoff suffered the loss for the Cubs. Third baseman Joey Wendle belted a 3-run homer, while first baseman Matt McBride slugged a 2-run shot. Shortstop Franklin Barreto collected 3 hits, and right fielder Jaff Decker and left fielder Renato Nunez both singled, doubled and drew a pair of walks for the Sounds.

Starter Xavier Altamirano allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 5 frames to suffer his 5th loss as the Snappers fell for the ninth time in their last ten games on Monday. Second baseman Jesus Lopez walked twice, homered and drove in 2 runs, while catcher Collin Theroux singled and walked, and center fielder Mike Martin had a pair of hits in the loss.

Center fielder Lazaro Armenteros tripled twice, scored twice and drove in a run, while designated hitter Austin Beck drove in 2 runs with a pair of sacrifice flies to take over the team RBI lead with 22. Rehabbing first baseman Chris Iriart had a pair of doubles, and third baseman Yerdel Vargas doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th inning for the A’s. Starter Richard Morban was charged with 2 unearned runs in 2 3/3 innings of work, while LHP Jhenderson Hurtado threw 3 scoreless frames in relief. RHP Slater Lee allowed 1 unearned run over 2 innings to earn his 2nd win, and LHP Jorge Martinez got the final four outs for the A’s to secure his 1st save on Monday.
