Stockton shut out Visalia on 5 hits to win its third straight on Saturday. Starter Dalton Sawyer was outstanding, striking out 5 while throwing 5 scoreless innings to earn his 3rd win for the Ports, and last year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s has now allowed just 4 earned runs while striking out 23 over his last 20 innings for Stockton. RHPs Joey Wagman, Miguel Romero and Kyle Friedrichs combined to throw 4 scoreless frames in relief to complete the shutout on Saturday. First baseman Mikey White walked and doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs, and designated hitter Jake Smolinski went 0 for 2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in his first rehab appearance for the Ports. Meanwhile, LHP Andrew Tomasovich was activated from the disabled list while LHP Jared Lyons landed on the DL for Stockton on Saturday.

RHP Daniel Gossett delivered an outstanding start for the Sounds, allowing 2 runs while striking out 10 over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering the loss on Saturday. Nashville scored 1 run on just 3 hits, and second baseman Franklin Barreto singled in the Sounds’ sole run in the loss.

Midland starter Casey Meisner was charged with 3 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while LHP Brandon Mann allowed 2 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief to suffer his 6th loss on Saturday. Center fielder B.J. Boyd collected 4 hits and drove in a run to raise his average to .325 and move in to second place in the Texas League batting race, while right fielder J.P. Sportman slugged a 2-run homer, and designated hitter Jermaine Curtis singled twice and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

Starter Xavier Altamirano allowed 4 runs over 5 frames to suffer his 4th loss for the Snappers on Saturday. First baseman Miguel Mercedes doubled, walked and hit a 2-run homer, while left fielder Josh Vidales singled, tripled and drove in a run as the Snappers suffered their sixth loss in their last eight games on Saturday.

For the second straight night, the Lake Monsters suffered an 11-inning walk-off loss to State College. 22-year-old Venezuelan LHP Ivan Andueza turned in his second straight quality start for Vermont on Saturday, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work, and he left with the game a 1-1 tie. Designated hitter Jordan Devencenzi had 3 hits, including a game-tying home run in the 6th inning, while right fielder Greg Deichmann singled and slugged a 2-run shot in the top of the 9th to give the Lake Monsters the lead. But RHP Oscar Tovar surrendered 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie things up and send the game to extra innings. Then in the bottom of the 11th, a pair of singles and an error by second baseman Jesus Lage brought in the winning run off LHP Logan Salow, who suffered his 3rd loss for the Lake Monsters as State College won in a walk-off for the second straight night on Saturday.
