Shortstop Sheldon Neuse, recently acquired from the Nationals in the Ryan Madson/Sean Doolittle deal, had a big night at the plate for the Ports on Friday. The 22-year-old collected 3 hits, including a 3-run homer in the 1st inning and a 2-run shot in the 9th. First baseman Mikey White doubled and singled twice, while left fielder Brett Siddall had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, and right fielder Seth Brown walked and doubled in a pair for the Ports. Stockton starter Kyle Friedrichs gave up 3 runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Brendan Butler allowed 1 run in 4 innings of relief to earn his 3rd win on Friday. In other news, RHP James Naile is set to be activated from the disabled list and make the start for Stockton on Saturday.

Three Sounds pitchers combined to shut out Las Vegas on 6 hits as Nashville notched its third victory in its last four games on Friday. Starter Michael Brady led the way by throwing 4 scoreless frames before giving way to rehabbing RHP Bobby Wahl, who pitched 2 perfect innings to pick up the win. RHP Corey Walter threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to complete the shutout and secure his 1st save for the Sounds. Left fielder Jaff Decker singled, tripled and scored Nashville’s sole run on Friday. Rehabbing RHP Kendall Graveman is set to make the start for the Sounds on Saturday.

After winning six in a row, the RockHounds lost their second straight on Friday. Starter Dustin Hurlbutt was solid once again for Midland, allowing 3 runs, just 2 earned, while walking none and striking out 6 over 5 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering his 2nd loss for the Hounds. Designated hitter Jermaine Curtis singled twice and walked, and left fielder Tyler Ramirez doubled and scored the RockHounds’ only run in the loss.

Designated hitter Kyle Nowlin singled, walked, homered, scored twice and drove in 3 runs to help the Snappers win for the sixth time in their last seven games on Friday. Left fielder Luke Persico had a home run and a double, while center fielder Mike Martin singled twice, and shortstop Eric Marinez doubled in a run for Beloit. Starter Zack Erwin allowed 3 runs, just 1 earned, over 6 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP Yordys Alejo tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to secure his 4th save for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters suffered their fourth loss in their last five games on Friday. 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar made the start and allowed 3 runs over 4 frames to take the loss, while LHP Josh Reagan and RHP Bryce Conley each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. Left fielder Logan Farrar had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while right fielder Anthony Churlin singled, doubled, walked and drove in the Lake Monsters’ first run in the loss.
