RHP Grant Holmes turned in one of his best starts of the season to help Midland win its fourth straight on Monday. The 21-year-old allowed just 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings to earn his 7th win, and Holmes has now surrendered a total of just 3 runs over his last 3 starts for the RockHounds. Right fielder J.P. Sportman singled in a run in the 7th inning and slugged a grand slam in the 8th, while center fielder B.J. Boyd had 3 hits, including a triple, and drove in 3, and designated hitter Jermaine Curtis singled twice, doubled, walked and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

The Sounds were shut out for the second straight day on Monday. Rehabbing RHP Kendall Graveman had a rough start for Nashville, surrendering 7 runs, 3 earned, on 9 hits over 3 innings of work to suffer the loss, while RHP Ryan Dull threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in his third rehab appearance for the Sounds. Nashville managed just 4 hits in the loss. Right fielder Mark Canha, catcher Ryan Lavarnway, left fielder Jaff Decker and second baseman Joey Wendle all singled in the loss. Meanwhile, the A’s recalled Nashville RHP Josh Smith and sent first baseman Matt Olson back to the Sounds on Monday.

Stockton suffered its eighth loss in its last ten games on Monday. 23-year-old Cuban RHP Norge Ruiz made the start and allowed 1 run over 2 2/3 innings before being tossed from the game for having a foreign substance on his left arm. LHP Evan Manarino replaced Ruiz on the mound and gave up 4 runs over 5 1/3 frames to suffer his 7th loss for Stockton. Left fielder Brett Siddall continued his hot hitting of late, collecting 3 hits, including a double and a home run, for the Ports in the loss.

With the game tied in the bottom of the 9th inning, left fielder J.C. Rodriguez stepped to the plate and slugged his 3rd home run of the season to give the Snappers the walk-off win on Monday. Rodriguez also doubled in the game, while catcher Collin Theroux walked and doubled in a pair of runs, and second baseman Josh Vidales singled twice and drove in a run to help the Snappers win their fourth straight. Starter Kyle Twomey gave up 3 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while RHP Mitchell Jordan allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in 3 1/3 innings of relief, and RHP Jesus Zambrano picked up the win after tossing a scoreless frame in the top of the 9th for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters suffered their sixth defeat in their last eight games on Monday. 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco has a rocky start, allowing 5 runs over 5 innings of work to take the loss. Vermont scored just 1 run on 6 hits on Monday. This year’s 11th-round draft pick for the A’s, second baseman Ryan Gridley, had a pair of singles, while 16th-round left fielder Payton Squier singled and drove in the Lake Monsters’ sole run on a sacrifice fly.

With two men on and his team down by two runs in the top of the 9th, Mickey McDonald replaced designated hitter Jhonny Rodriguez at the plate and ripped a 3-run homer to provide the margin of victory for the AZL A’s on Monday. Shortstop Nick Allen slugged his first pro home run to lead off the game in the top of the 1st. Rehabbing RHP James Naile made the start and allowed 1 run and struck out 7 over 3 innings of work, while LHP Pat Krall tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP Caleb Evans got the final three outs in the bottom of the 9th to notch his 1st save for the A’s.
