RHP Dustin Hurlbutt delivered another outstanding start to help the RockHounds take their second straight from San Antonio on Monday. The 24-year-old allowed 1 run on just 2 hits over 7 innings of work to earn his 2nd win for Midland, and Hurlbutt has now given up just 1 run and 7 hits in 18 1/3 frames over his last 3 starts for the Hounds. RHP Tyler Sturdevant tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to secure his 1st save for Midland on Monday. Right fielder J.P. Sportman singled, tripled and drove in a run, while center fielder B.J. Boyd had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, stole a base and scored twice, and designated hitter Jermaine Curtis doubled, walked and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

The Sounds were shut out on just 5 hits on Monday. First baseman Matt Olson singled and tripled, while third baseman Joey Wendle collected his team-leading 23rd double in the loss. After giving up a total of 19 earned runs over his last two outings, RHP Corey Walter turned in a strong start for the Sounds, throwing 5 shutout innings and exiting with the game a scoreless tie. But LHP Felix Doubront surrendered the sole run of the game in the 7th inning to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. Meanwhile, Nashville RHP Raul Alcantara began a rehab assignment with the AZL A’s on Monday.

The Ports dropped their fourth straight, this time in a walk-off, on Monday. RHP Brandon Bailey turned in an impressive start for Stockton, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 6 over 5 scoreless frames, and he left the game with a 3-0 lead. But RHP Brendan Butler gave up 4 runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief, including surrendering a 3-run homer with one out in the bottom of the 9th, to suffer the loss as the Quakes won in a walk-off. First baseman Sandber Pimentel slugged a 2-run homer, and right fielder Seth Brown had a pair of doubles for the Ports. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Cuban RHP Miguel Romero was reassigned to Stockton from the Snappers on Monday.

Third baseman Trace Loehr doubled and slugged his 2nd home run, while catcher Collin Theroux clubbed his 11th home run in the loss. Meanwhile, Snappers RHP Miguel Romero was promoted to the Ports on Monday.

19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar surrendered 4 runs over 5 2/3 frames, while this year’s 15th-round draft pick for the A’s, LHP Josh Reagan, gave up the tying run in the top of the 8th in his Vermont debut. An error in the 9th by 10th-round center fielder Jack Meggs helped open the door for the winning run to score off 6th-round LHP Logan Salow, who suffered his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters on Monday. 2nd-round right fielder Greg Deichmann drilled a 2-run homer in the 3rd and also drew 3 walks, while Meggs slugged a solo shot in the 5th, and catcher Iolana Akau and shortstop Ryan Gridley had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.

This year’s 25th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Hunter Hargrove, who was serving as the designated hitter for the night, had another big game for the AZL A’s on Monday. The 22-year-old drilled a pair of doubles and drove in 2 of the A’s 3 runs on the night, and he’s now gone 10 for 21 over his last 5 games. Nashville RHP Raul Alcantara made the start and threw 1 scoreless inning in his first rehab appearance in Arizona. 19-year-old Dominican RHP Richard Morban was solid in relief, tossing 4 scoreless frames to earn the win, while 29th-round RHP Adam Reuss got the final three outs to pick up the save for the A’s.
