LHP Zack Erwin turned in another impressive start to help the Snappers notch their fifth win in their last six games on Sunday. The 23-year-old allowed just 1 hit while striking out 7 over 5 shutout frames to earn his 3rd win, and he’s now thrown 11 straight scoreless innings for the Snappers. Shortstop Eric Marinez singled twice, doubled, drove in a pair of runs and stole a base, while second baseman Jesus Lopez had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and third baseman Trace Loehr singled twice, scored twice, walked, stole a base and drove in a run for the Snappers.

Left fielder Kenny Wilson collected 3 hits in the loss. And with the A’s dealing relievers Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle to the Nationals for RHP Blake Treinen, infielder Sheldon Neuse and LHP Jesus Luzardo on Sunday, Nashville RHP Simon Castro was promoted to Oakland, while Sounds RHP Jake Sanchez landed on the disabled list

Vermont was victorious for the tenth time in its last thirteen games on Sunday. This year’s 8th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brian Howard, made the start and gave up 1 run in 3 innings of work, while 22-year-old Venezuelan LHP Ivan Andueza allowed 2 runs in 6 innings of relief to earn his 4th win for the Lake Monsters. 12th-round first baseman Aaron Arruda homered, singled and drove in a pair, while 36th-round left fielder Logan Farrar singled, walked, doubled in a run and scored twice, and catcher Iolana Akau had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters. Meanwhile, Vermont catcher Roger Gonzalez was released and this year’s 15th-round pick, LHP Josh Reagan, was promoted to the Lake Monsters from the AZL A’s on Sunday.

Lazaro Armenteros, serving as the designated hitter for the night, homered for the second straight game on Sunday. The 18-year-old Cuban outfielder slugged a 2-run homer in the 6th inning and also doubled in the game, and he’s now 7 for 19 with a pair of home runs over his last 5 games for the A’s. This year’s 27th-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Ben Spitznagel, tripled, doubled, walked and scored 3 times, while 33rd-round third baseman Jake Lumley singled, tripled and drove in a pair. 21-year-old Venezuelan LHP Jhenderson Hurtado made the start and allowed 3 runs, just 1 earned, over 5 innings of work to earn the win on Sunday.
