The Lake Monsters notched their sixth straight win, this one in a walk-off, on Sunday. This year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s, third baseman Will Toffey, had 2 hits, including a double, drew a pair of walks and drove in the tying and winning runs with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to give Vermont the victory. Second baseman Ryan Gridley doubled in a run and walked twice, while right fielder Anthony Churlin had a pair of hits, and catcher Jordan Devencenzi singled, walked and drove in a run for Vermont. 7th-round RHP Parker Dunshee made the start and tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings, while RHPs Bryce Conley and Wyatt Marks both allowed 2 runs in relief, and RHP Marc Berube picked up the win after tossing a scoreless top of the 9th for the Lake Monsters. Meanwhile, 2nd-round outfielder Greg Deichmann and 9th-round LHP Jared Poche, both out of LSU, were officially added to Vermont’s roster on Sunday.

RHP Chris Jensen turned in an outstanding start for the Sounds, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work on Sunday. Shortstop Joey Wendle and left fielder Kenny Wilson had a pair of hits apiece, and right fielder Mark Canha singled in the Sounds’ sole run. The game entered extra innings a 1-1 tie, when RHP Kyle Finnegan gave up the winning run in the top of the 10th to suffer his 1st loss for the Sounds.

Starter Heath Fillmyer was solid for the RockHounds, allowing 3 runs over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering the loss on Sunday. Right fielder J.P. Sportman doubled, walked and stole a base, and catcher Sean Murphy drew 3 walks as the RockHounds went down to defeat for the fourth time in their last five games.

Rehabbing RHP Chris Bassitt made the start and pitched 1 perfect inning for the Ports. LHP Evan Manarino replaced him on the mound and surrendered 9 runs, 6 earned, over 4 innings of work to suffer his 5th loss for Stockton. First baseman Sandber Pimentel slugged his 4th home run, while third baseman Mikey White and catcher Argenis Raga had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

The Snappers mounted a late-inning comeback but came up short and ended up suffering their sixth straight loss on Sunday. 21-year-old third baseman Edwin Diaz had a big day at the plate, collecting a pair of hits, including an inside-the-park home run, while driving in 4 runs. And Diaz is now batting a healthy .444 over his last 5 games for Beloit. Second baseman Trace Loehr had 2 hits and drove in a run, while left fielder Luke Persico double, walked and drove in a run in the loss. RHP Xavier Altamirano had a rough start for the Snappers, allowing 7 runs over 5 frames to suffer his 2nd loss on Sunday.

This year’s 33rd-round draft pick for the A’s, third baseman Jake Lumley, had a big game, collecting 3 hits and a walk while swiping a base and driving in a pair of runs on Sunday. Starter Chris Kohler was solid, allowing 1 unearned run on just 1 hit, over 3 innings of work, while 24th-round RHP Slater Lee tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and 30th-round LHP Cody Puckett struck out the side in order in the 9th to notch the save for the A’s.
