Third baseman Renato Nunez did his part to help Nashville snap a four-game skid on Thursday. The 23-year-old Venezuelan collected 3 hits, including a pair of home runs to extend his league-leading total to 24, while also driving in 5 runs. Right fielder Mark Canha singled, doubled twice and scored twice, while first baseman Jermaine Curtis doubled, singled twice, walked and drove in a run, and shortstop Joey Wendle had 2 hits, including a run-scoring triple, for the Sounds. Starter Jesse Hahn allowed 4 runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Kyle Finnegan tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP Simon Castro got the final two outs in the 9th to notch his 4th save for Nashville.

A walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th brought the RockHounds their sixth loss in their last seven games on Thursday. Starter Dustin Hurlbutt threw 6 scoreless innings and left the game with the RockHounds up by a run, but LHP Brandon Mann was charged with 1 unearned run in the 7th, and RHP Tyler Sturdevant then gave up the game-winning homer with one out in the bottom of the 9th to suffer his 2nd loss for Midland. Left fieder Jordan Tarsovich had a pair of doubles, while designated hitter B.J. Boyd and right fielder Tyler Ramirez both singled, doubled and walked, and second baseman Max Schrock drew a pair of walks and doubled in the RockHounds’ only run in the loss.

Stockton mounted a big late-inning comeback to claim its second straight victory against Inland Empire on Thursday. Rehabbing A’s RHP Chris Bassitt started the game and struck out 2 in 1 scoreless inning. He was replaced on the mound by RHP Brendan Butler, who surrendered 6 runs in 6 innings of work, and his team was down by 5 runs when his work was done in the 7th. Shortstop Mikey White singled, doubled, homered, scored twice and drove in 3, while designated hitter Eli White doubled twice and scored a run, and right fielder Seth Brown singled, tripled and drove in 3 runs, including the tying and winning runs in the top of the 9th for Stockton. RHP Joey Wagman tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th to pick up the win for the Ports.

The Snappers were shut out for the second straight night on Thursday. 23-year-old Cuban RHP Miguel Romero made the start and threw 3 scoreless innings. He was replaced by RHP Seth Martinez, who allowed 4 runs in 3 innings of relief to suffer the loss for the Snappers. Despite being shut out, Beloit batters managed to notch 9 hits on Thursday. Third baseman Edwin Diaz singled, doubled and walked, while first baseman Miguel Mercedes had 2 hits, including a double, and center fielder Mike Martin singled twice for the Snappers in the loss.

The Lake Monsters shut out Connecticut on 4 hits on Wednesday to win their third straight and sweep their three-game series with the Tigers. This year’s 8th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brian Howard, made the start and tossed 2 scoreless innings in his pro debut before being replaced by 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar, who threw 5 scoreless frames to earn his 1st victory for Vermont. 6-foot-6 Dominican RHP Wandisson Charles tossed 2 scoreless innings to complete the shutout and earn his 2nd save for the Lake Monsters. 11th-round shortstop Ryan Gridley singled, doubled, walked and scored a run in the win.

The AZL A’s suffered their ninth loss in eleven games on Thursday. Last year’s 18th-round draft pick for the A’s, catcher Skyler Weber, doubled twice and drove in a run, while this year’s 3rd-round pick, shortstop Nick Allen, singled twice but was picked off both times. 17-year-old Puerto Rican RHP Osvaldo Berrios made the start and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work, while 15th-round LHP Josh Reagan gave up 3 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss in his pro debut.
