Last year’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s allowed just 1 run while stiking out 6 over 7 innings of work to earn the win over Wisconsin, and the 23-year-old has now given up just 2 earned runs and struck out 26 in 20 innings over his last 3 starts for the Snappers. RHP Heath Bowers tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 3rd save. Third baseman Trace Loehr collected 3 hits for the second straight game, while designated hitter Kyle Nowlin doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the 4th for Beloit.

Prospect Of The Game:

Outfielder Matt McBride

(1 for 3 / Home Run / 2 RBIs)

A record-breaking crowd of 11,764 saw the Sounds suffer a late-inning loss on Monday. Starter Frankie Montas allowed 2 runs and struck out 4 over 4 frames before giving way to RHP Kyle Finnegan, who gave up 2 more runs in the top of the 5th inning to leave his team down by a run. Left fielder Matt McBride then belted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 6th to put the Sounds up by a run. But a missed catch by first baseman Jermaine Curtis on what should have been the final out in the top of the 9th extended the inning. That miscue was then followed by a 2-run double that drove home what would prove to be the winning run for the Dodgers on Monday. RHP Jake Sanchez was charged with 2 unearned runs in 1 inning of work to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. And with Matt Chapman‘s return from the disabled list for the A’s, first baseman Matt Olson was sent back to the Sounds and LHP Dalton Sawyer was promoted to Nashville from the Ports on Monday.

RHP Grant Holmes turned in an outstanding start, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, while striking out 6 over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss for the Hounds. Designated hitter Max Schrock walked in the 4th inning to provide Midland’s only other base runner in the loss.

Prospect Of The Game:

Designated Hitter Logan Farrar

(2 for 4)

Center fielder Austin Beck led things off for the A’s by doubling to left field to collect the first hit of his pro career on Monday. He then scored on first baseman Hunter Hargrove‘s RBI single, and left fielder Enrry Pantoja singled in another run in the bottom of the 1st to account for all the A’s scoring on Monday. Designated hitter Logan Farrar had a pair of hits in the loss and is now 15 for 25 to start his pro career. This year’s 13th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Wyatt Marks, made the start and tossed 3 shutout innings before being replaced by 23rd-round RHP Malik Jones, who also threw 3 scoreless frames. 21-year-old Panamanian LHP Jorge Martinez allowed 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief, and 28th-round LHP Pat Krall gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 1 1/3 innings to suffer his 2nd loss for the A’s.
