CALIFORNIA LEAGUE  (High-A)

Modesto Nuts     3

Stockton Ports  1

LP – Tomasovich 2-3 / 3.77

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Dustin Hurlbutt

(8 IP / 3 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 5 K)

Despite the fact that the Ports didn’t end up prevailing on Sunday, RHP Dustin Hurlbutt delivered another impressive start for Stockton. The 24-year-old allowed just 3 hits over 8 shutout innings and, setting aside his one spot start for Nashville, he’s now given up just 2 earned runs, struck out 24 and failed to allow a walk over his last 21 innings of work for Stockton. At one point, Hurlbutt retired 13 consecutive batters on Sunday, but he left after 8 frames with the game a scoreless tie. An error by shortstop Eli White helped lead to an unearned run off LHP Cody Stull in the top of the 9th. White then tripled and scored the tying run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 9th, but LHP Andrew Tomasovich surrendered a pair of runs in the top of the 10th to suffer his 3rd loss for Stockton.
