RHP Heath Fillmyer turned in an outstanding start to help the RockHounds win the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader in Midland. The 23-year-old allowed just 3 hits while striking out 9 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win for the Hounds. Center fielder Kenny Wilson singled in a run and slugged a solo shot in the 6th, while third baseman Jordan Tarsovich belted a 2-run blast in the 6th, and second baseman J.P. Sportman had 3 hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

The Sounds went down to defeat for the fourth time in their last five games on Tuesday. Designated hitter Renato Nunez slugged his league-leading 18th home run in the 2nd inning to give the Sounds an early edge. Shortstop Franklin Barreto had a pair of hits, while second baseman Joey Wendle doubled in a run, and third baseman Matt Chapman singled to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and also drew 3 walks, including a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run for Nashville. Starter Chris Smith was solid, allowing 2 runs over 5 2/3 frames, but RHP Tyler Sturdevant surrendered 5 runs, 3 earned, while registering just one out to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. RHP Frankie Montas struck out 3 in 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his Nashville debut. Meanwhile, first baseman/outfielder Chris Parmelee was activated from the disabled list and released on Tuesday.

Starter Ben Bracewell allowed 3 runs over 4 innings of work, and RHP Carlos Navas surrendered 1 run in 2 innings of relief to suffer his 2nd loss as the RockHounds split Tuesday’s doubleheader. Catcher Argenis Raga, shortstop Yairo Munoz and designated hitter Jermaine Curtis each doubled in a run in the 5th inning to account for all of Midland’s scoring in the loss.

The Ports won their third straight in an 11-inning walk-off to pull into a tie with Modesto for the division lead on Tuesday. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th, designated hitter Brett Siddall was hit by a pitch to send home the winning run for Stockton. Siddall also homered to put the Ports on the board in the 5th, then walked and scored the tying run in the 7th. RHP Brendan Butler turned in another strong start for Stockton, allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 over 6 2/3 innings of work, while LHP Cody Stull tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win for the Ports. In other news, pitchers A.J. Puk, Casey Meisner and Evan Manarino, along with catcher Sean Murphy and outfielders Skye Bolt, Seth Brown and Tyler Ramirez were all named to the California League North Division All-Star team on Tuesday. Since Manarino, was recently reassigned to the RockHounds, he’s not likely to take part in the competition.

The Snappers suffered their fifth loss in their last six games on Tuesday. RHP Brandon Bailey was solid once again, allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 over 5 innings of work, and he left with the game a 2-2 tie. RHP Joseph Camacho gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief to suffer the loss in his Snappers debut. Catcher Collin Theroux tagged his 10th home run, a 2-run shot to tie the game in the top of the 5th, while designated hitter Kyle Nowlin singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Snappers in the loss.
