Catcher Sean Murphy came through with a big 3-run double in the top of the 12th inning to help Stockton win its third straight on Monday. Murphy had 3 hits in the game, including another double in the 9th, and he’s now gone 8 for 14 in his last 3 games to raise his average to .291. First baseman Chris Iriart had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while center fielder Tyler Ramirez singled, doubled, walked and scored twice. Second baseman Branden Cogswell had a pair of hits and drove in the tying run in the top of the 9th, and right fielder Seth Brown singled twice and drove in 2 runs, including to the go-ahead run in the 12th. Stockton starter Casey Meisner allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 frames, while LHP Cody Stull threw 3 shutout innings in relief, and RHP Boomer Biegalski tossed 2 scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Ports. Meanwhile, one of Stockton’s top starting pitchers, LHP Evan Manarino, was reassigned to the RockHounds on Monday. The 24-year-old Manarino, who was the A’s 25th-round draft pick in 2015, put up a 3.21 ERA while striking out 41 and walking just 3 in 47 2/3 frames for the Ports this season.

The Sounds were shut out on 6 hits on Monday. Right fielder Jaycob Brugman had 2 of those hits to raise his average to .323, while Matt Chapman, Renato Nunez, Matt McBride and Ryan LaMarre all singled in the loss. Starter Paul Blackburn allowed 6 runs, 4 earned, over 5 innings of work to suffer his 5th loss, while LHP Felix Doubront, who’s working his way back from Tommy John surgery, pitched 2 perfect innings of relief in his second appearance for the Sounds. In other news, RHP Daniel Gossett was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week after throwing 8 shutout innings for the Sounds in last Monday’s start. And with A’s RHP Kendall Graveman landing on the disabled list, Nashville RHP Daniel Mengden was added to the A’s roster on Sunday, and RHP Joel Seddon was reassigned from the RockHounds to the Sounds. The 24-year-old Seddon, who was the A’s 11th-round draft pick in 2014, posted a 4.50 ERA in 11 appearances for the Hounds this season.

Starter Matt Milburn surrendered 6 runs over 4 innings of work to suffer his 4th loss for the Snappers on Monday. RHP Brandon Bailey was outstanding in relief though, striking out the first 7 batters he faced. Last year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s ended up allowing 1 run on just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 8 over 4 frames, and he’s now allowed just 1 run in his last 20 innings for the Snappers. Designated hitter Kyle Nowlin had 3 hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in 2 runs, while shortstop Edwin Diaz and second baseman Nate Mondou both singled and doubled in the loss.
