After enduring his roughest outing of the season in his last appearance for Stockton, LHP Evan Manarino turned in one of his best starts of the year on Saturday. The 24-year-old was almost perfect over 6 innings, allowing just 1 base runner on a double and striking out 3 to earn his 3rd win for the Ports. RHP Chris Jensen, who was reassigned to Stockton from the Sounds on Saturday, permitted 1 run in 3 innings of relief to pick up the save for the Ports. First baseman Seth Brown continued his hot hitting of late, reaching base in all 4 of his plate appearances, on a triple, a walk and a pair of singles. He drove in Stockton’s first run and also stole a base in the game, and Brown is now 11 for 27 with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs over his last 7 games. Right fielder Brett Siddall doubled and scored a run, while second baseman Branden Cogswell singled in a pair for the Ports. Meanwhile, RHP Carlos Navas was reassigned to the RockHounds and Midland LHP Cody Stull was sent to Stockton on Saturday.

RHP Chris Bassitt had a rough rehab start for the Sounds on Saturday, surrendering 7 runs over 4 2/3 frames to suffer the loss, while RHP Zach Neal allowed 1 run in 3 1/3 innings of relief for Nashville. Second baseman Joey Wendle singled, doubled, homered and drove in a pair, while left fielder Renato Nunez homered for the third straight day, hitting his team-leading 12th in the top of the 9th, and shortstop Franklin Barreto and designated hitter Jaycob Brugman had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. Meanwhile, catcher Bruce Maxwell was placed on the disabled list with an oblique injury, while RHP Chris Jensen was reassigned to Stockton, and RHP Daniel Mengden‘s rehab assignment came to an end and he was was assigned to the Sounds.

The RockHounds were shut out on just 4 hits to fall for the third time in their last four games on Saturday. First baseman Viosergy Rosa, second baseman Max Schrock, third baseman Yairo Munoz and shortstop Richie Martin all singled in the loss. Starter Grant Holmes struggled again on Saturday, surrendering 5 runs on 9 hits over 4 1/3 innings to suffer his 4th loss, and the 21-year-old has allowed 11 earned runs in 14 frames over his last 3 starts for Midland. RHP Kyle Friedrichs was solid in relief, allowing just 1 unearned run in 4 1/3 innings for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, Midland LHP Cody Stull was sent to Stockton and Ports RHP Carlos Navas was reassigned to the RockHounds on Saturday.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE  (Class-A)

The Snappers were no-hit through 8 1/3 innings and ended up being shut out on just 1 hit on Saturday. Beloit third baseman Edwin Diaz singled with one out in the 9th to provide the Snappers’ sole hit on the night. RHP Mitchell Jordan turned in a strong start on Saturday, allowing just 1 run while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work, but he still wound up suffering the loss for the Snappers.
