After being officially optioned by the A’s earlier in the day, catcher Bruce Maxwell had a big game in his first night back in action for Nashville. Maxwell homered to give the Sounds’ their second run in the 5th inning, then singled in another run with two outs in the 6th, and doubled but was left stranded in the 9th. First baseman Matt Olson hit his 8th home run of the season, and his third in the last three days, to put Nashville on the board in the 4th, and center fielder Jaycob Brugman singled twice and drew a pair of walks for the Sounds. Starter Chris Bassitt was solid in his second rehab appearance for the Sounds, allowing just 3 hits over 5 shutout frames to earn the win, while RHP Zach Neal threw 3 scoreless innings in relief. Meanwhile, outfielder Andrew Lambo and LHP Ross Detwiler were both officially released on Monday, and RHP Jharel Cotton is set to make his first start since being optioned back to the Sounds on Tuesday.

After being shut out on 8 hits on Sunday, the RockHounds were shut out on just 4 hits on Monday. Designated hitter Brett Vertigan singled and stole a base, and he was one of only two Midland base runners to reach second in the game. Right fielder Tyler Marincov, first baseman Viosergy Rosa and shortstop Richie Martin all singled in the loss. Starter Grant Holmes allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 6 walks over 4 2/3 frames to suffer his 3rd loss, while RHP Kyle Friedrichs surrendered 3 runs in just 1 2/3 innings, and LHP Brandon Mann tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the RockHounds to extend his scoreless-innings streak to 19 on Monday.

Stockton lost its eighth straight in a slugfest at Lancaster on Monday. LHP Evan Manarino endured his shakiest start of the season, surrendering 8 runs over 4 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss, while LHP Jared Lyons allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, in just 1 inning of relief for the Ports. Stockton socked four home runs in the game. Center fielder Tyler Ramirez tripled and tagged a 2-run homer in the 7th, while first baseman Chris Iriart had 3 hits, including his 7th home run, a solo shot in the 4th. Left fielder Brett Siddall singled and slugged a solo shot of his own in the 8th, and designated hitter Mikey White belted a 3-run blast for Stockton in the 7th.

Starter Mitchell Jordan had his roughest outing of the season on Monday, surrendering 8 runs over 3 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss for the Snappers. RHP Xavier Altamirano was outstanding in relief though, allowing just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 5 over 4 scoreless frames for Beloit. First baseman Miguel Mercedes singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair, while right fielder JaVon Shelby singled in a run, and second baseman Nate Mondou singled, walked and scored twice in the loss. And with RHP Michael Murray landing on the disabled list on Monday, RHP Seth Martinez was added to the Snappers roster from extended spring training.

The second game of Monday’s scheduled doubleheader, which was suspended due to rain with the Snappers down by a run and just one out in the top of the 1st inning, will be made up on Tuesday.
