The Sounds put 11 runs on the board as they shut out the Express on just 2 hits to win their fifth straight on Tuesday. Not only did Matt Chapman hit his first home run of the season in the 2nd inning to give the Sounds the lead, but he also added his second home run of the season in the 9th to cap off the victory. Left fielder Renato Nunez homered in his third straight game – slugging his team-leading 6th of the season – while right fielder Mark Canha singled, walked and belted his 4th big fly since joining Nashville. Second baseman Joey Wendle singled twice and ripped his 1st round-tripper of the year, and first baseman Matt Olson singled, doubled and drove in a pair for the Sounds. RHP Raul Alcantara was solid in his return to the Sounds, allowing just 1 hit over 3 shutout innings, while RHP Michael Brady threw 3 scoreless frames in relief of Alcantara to earn the win. Relievers Ross Detwiler, Tucker Healy and Aaron Kurcz each tossed a scoreless inning to complete the 2-hit shutout for the Sounds. Meanwhile, infielder Melvin Mercedes was reassigned to the RockHounds and outfielder Jaycob Brugman was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Midland starter Corey Walter allowed 3 hits over 4 scoreless frames, while his tandem-starting mate, LHP Brandon Mann, followed up by allowing just 1 hit over 4 shutout innings to earn his 2nd win on Tuesday. And Mann, who was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week for last week, has now thrown 12 straight scoreless innings for the RockHounds. Left fielder B.J. Boyd singled, doubled, tripled and scored a run, while catcher Andy Paz singled twice, walked and drove in 3. Designated hitter Tyler Marincov had 3 hits, including a double, and shortstop J.C. Rodriguez singled, tripled and drove in a pair for Midland. Meanwhile, infielder Melvin Mercedes was reassigned to the RockHounds on Tuesday.

Stockton shut out Visalia on 6 hits on Tuesday. Starter Brett Graves turned in another strong effort, striking out 5 over 3 2/3 shutout innings, while his tandem-pitching partner, RHP Casey Meisner, was outstanding in relief, striking out 6 over 4 1/3 scoreless frames to earn his 2nd win for Stockton. And LHP Jared Lyons pitched a perfect 9th to complete the 6-hit shutout for the Ports. Third baseman Trent Gilbert had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while designated hitter Branden Cogswell collected a pair of doubles and scored twice. Shortstop Mikey White slugged his 4th home run of the season, and center fielder Skye Bolt singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair for the Ports. And with RHPs Matt Sergey and Joey Wagman landing on the disabled list on Tuesday, Beloit LHPs Will Gilbert and Andrew Tomasovich were reassigned to Stockton from the Snappers.

The Snappers scored just 1 run on 4 hits to suffer their second straight loss on Tuesday. With rainouts on Saturday and Sunday and Monday’s off day, the Snappers had been sidelined since last Friday’s loss. Left fielder Luke Persico doubled to drive in Beloit’s only run, while third baseman Trace Loehr had a pair of singles, and first baseman Miguel Mercedes walked 3 times, which represented his first 3 walks in 22 games this season. Starter Dakota Chalmers threw 3 scoreless innings despite issuing 4 walks, while his tandem-starting mate, RHP Michael Murray, allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 3 innings of work to suffer the loss for the Snappers. And with Beloit LHPs Will Gilbert and Andrew Tomasovich promoted to the Ports, RHP Yordy Alejo was assigned to the Snappers on Tuesday.
