CALIFORNIA LEAGUE  (High-A)

Stockton Ports    3

San Jose Giants   0

WP – Manarino 1-1 / 1.57

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Evan Manarino

(5 IP / 2 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 5 K / Win)

It was another impressive performance by the Ports pitching staff as RHP Dustin Hurlbutt and LHP Evan Manarino combined to shut out San Jose on just 4 hits on Sunday. Hurlbutt gave up 2 hits and struck out 3 over 4 scoreless frames before being replaced by Manarino, who was even better, allowing 2 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 5 shutout innings to earn the win for Stockton. And Manarino has now allowed just 1 earned run without issuing a walk over his last 11 innings of work for the Ports. Second baseman Josh Vidales singled twice, walked twice and scored his team’s first run, while left fielder Tyler Ramirez had 2 hits, walked and drove in a run, and center fielder Skye Bolt singled, drew a pair of walks, stole a base and scored the final run for Stockton.

(SUSPENDED)

Sunday’s game was suspended after 3 innings with the score tied 0-0 and will be completed when New Orleans returns to Nashville in June. Before the contest was called, starter Zach Neal had thrown 3 scoreless innings and second baseman Joey Wendle singled for the Sounds’ only hit of the game.

TEXAS LEAGUE  (Double-A)

Prospect Of The Game:

Outfielder Tyler Marincov

(2 for 4 / Grand Slam / Double / 6 RBIs)

Despite holding a 9-run lead in the 7th inning, the RockHounds ended up losing by a run to snap their three-game winning streak on Sunday. Right fielder Tyler Marincov struck the biggest blow for the Hounds, slugging a grand slam with two outs in the top of the 3rd inning to give Midland a 6-run edge early in the game, and he also doubled in a pair of runs in the 7th to extend the RockHounds’ lead to 9 runs late in the game. Catcher Argenis Raga and designated hitter Joe Bennie both hit their first home runs of the season for Midland. Meanwhile, starter Heath Fillmyer was solid, allowing just 1 run over 4 frames, but a 10-run 7th inning for San Antonio did in the Hounds. RHP Joel Seddon was charged with 5 runs, 4 earned, while LHP Cody Stull gave up 3 runs, and RHP Sam Bragg surrendered 2 runs to suffer the loss on Sunday.
