First Baseman Viosergy Rosa

With the bases loaded, two outs and the RockHounds down by two runs in the bottom of the 9th, first baseman Viosergy Rosa stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam to help the Hounds win Game #3 of their Texas League playoff series in a walk-off on Friday. Center fielder Brett Vertigan collected 3 hits, while catcher Beau Taylor singled, doubled and drove in a run, and shortstop Richie Martin and right fielder Tyler Marincov had a pair of hits apiece in the win. Starter Ben Bracewell allowed 5 runs over 3 2/3 innings, but RHP Kyle Friedrichs was outstanding in relief, throwing 5 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win for the RockHounds, who now lead the best-of-five series 2-1 as they head to Game #4 on Saturday. Prospect Of The Game:

Designated Hitter Renato Nunez

(1 for 4 / Home Run / 3 RBIs)

 

Designated hitter Renato Nunez homered for the second time in the playoff series, slugging a 3-run shot in the 3rd inning for the Sounds. RHP Daniel Gossett turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs while striking out 6 over 5 1/3 innings and left the game with a two-run lead. But RHP Ryan Brasier was charged with 2 runs in 1 inning of relief, while LHP Colt Hynes gave up 1 run without recording an out in the 7th. With the Sounds then down by a run in the bottom of the 8th, shortstop Franklin Barreto tripled to lead off the inning. He scored the tying run on an RBI single by second baseman Colin Walsh, who then scored the winning run on a ground out by left fielder Rangel Ravelo. RHP Andres Avila picked up the win after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings, and RHP Tucker Healy got the final three outs in the 9th to notch the save as Nashville took a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-five playoff series.
