For the second straight night, the RockHounds got 5 scoreless innings from their starting pitcher. On Wednesday, it was RHP Joel Seddon, and on Thursday it was RHP Corey Walter who allowed 3 hits and 4 walks over 5 shutout innings and exited with the game a scoreless tie. Shortstop Richie Martin singled in the first run of the game in the 7th inning then, with the bases loaded and two outs in the 8th, second baseman Max Schrock delivered a bases-clearing double to put 3 more runs on the board and give the RockHounds a 4-run lead late in the game. But RHP Lou Trivino was charged with 2 runs in 2 innings of relief, while RHP Kyle Finnegan gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game, and LHP Cody Stull surrendered the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 9th to suffer the defeat as the RockHounds lost in a walk-off on Thursday. LHP Dillon Overton had a shaky start for the Sounds, allowing 5 runs over 5 innings of work to suffer the loss on Thursday. RHPs Andres Avila, Carlos Navas and Angel Castro each tossed a scoreless inning in relief for Nashville. First baseman Matt Olson had 2 hits, including an RBI single in the top of the 1st inning to give his team an early edge, but the Sounds wouldn’t score again until right fielder B.J. Boyd singled in a run with two outs in the top of the 9th. Shortstop Franklin Barreto walked, doubled and scored a run in the loss. And with the best-of-five series now tied 1-1, the action moves to Nashville on Friday.
