After struggling for the first time with Nashville in his last outing, RHP Daniel Mengden was outstanding on Tuesday, allowing just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 6 over 5 shutout innings to earn his 7th win for the Sounds. Relievers Sean Doolittle, Aaron Kurcz, J.B. Wendelken and Tucker Healy tossed 1 scoreless and hitless inning apiece to complete the 3-hit shutout. Three home runs accounted for all the Sounds’ scoring on Tuesday. Designated hitter Renato Nunez tagged his team-leading 22nd home run in the top of the 1st inning, while shortstop Josh Rodriguez slugged a grand slam in the 2nd, and second baseman Colin Walsh clubbed a 2-run homer in the 5th. Right fielder Jaycob Brugman singled, doubled and scored a run, and center fielder B.J. Boyd went 0 for 4 in his Triple-A debut as the Sounds won their fourth straight on Tuesday.

Shortstop Franklin Barreto led off the game with his 10th home run to give the RockHounds an early lead on Tuesday. Barreto also singled and walked in the game, while left fielder J.P. Sportman brought home the Hounds’ only other run with a bases-loaded walk. Starter Heath Fillmyer allowed 2 runs over 5 innings of work, while RHP Kris Hall surrendered 5 runs in 2 innings of relief to take the loss for the RockHounds.

RHP James Naile turned in a strong start on Tuesday, allowing just 4 hits while walking none and striking out 7 over 5 shutout innings to earn his 4th win for Stockton. RHP Koby Gauna pitched 3 perfect innings in relief, and LHP Cody Stull got the final three outs to complete the 4-hit shutout and post his 5th save for the Ports. Catcher Argenis Raga collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while center fielder Seth Brown singled and tripled in Stockton’s only other run of the game and, after being promoted to the Ports from the Snappers, right fielder Justin Higley went 0 for 3 with a walk on Tuesday.

For his sixth straight start on Tuesday, RHP Dustin Hurlbutt surrendered just 1 earned for the Snappers. He also permitted 2 unearned runs over 6 2/3 innings of work to suffer his 4th loss for Beloit. Shortstop Edwin Diaz singled and slugged his 5th home run, while first baseman Ryan Howell and left fielder Robert Martinez, in his return from the disabled list, had a pair of hits apiece as the Snappers lost their fourth straight on Tuesday.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 5th inning, first baseman Miguel Mercedes hit his league-leading 10th home run. His grand slam tied the game, but it still wasn’t enough to guarantee victory for Vermont on Tuesday. Starter Dakota Chalmers gave up 4 runs over 3 innings of work, while RHP Matt Milburn allowed just 1 unearned run in 4 innings of relief, but LHP Dalton Sawyer surrendered the winning run in the top of the 9th to take his 3rd loss for the Lake Monsters.

Catcher Robert Mullen singled, doubled and scored a run, while first baseman Charley Gould doubled in a run, and designated hitter Collin Theroux singled in a run for the A’s on Tuesday.
