RHP Boomer Biegalski turned in his second straight impressive start for the Snappers on Friday, allowing just 1 run over 7 innings of work to earn his 8th win for Beloit. And Biegalski has now posted a 2.35 ERA while striking out 21 over 23 innings in his 4 starts in August. RHPs Rob Huber and Nolan Blackwood both pitched 1 perfect inning in relief for Beloit. Second baseman Trace Loehr had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and drove in a pair, while first baseman Ryan Howell also doubled twice, and center fielder Skye Bolt walked and doubled in a run for the Snappers.

Starter Raul Alcantara allowed 2 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings of work and left with the game a 2-2 tie on Friday. RHP J.B. Wendelken took over in the 6th inning and was outstanding in relief, striking out 5 over 3 shutout frames to keep the game tied. He then turned it over to RHP Tucker Healy, who tossed a scoreless 9th but then surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 10th to take the loss for the Sounds. Right fielder Jaycob Brugman had a pair of hits and a walk, while first baseman Matt Olson singled and walked twice, and third baseman Matt Chapman had a 2-RBI single to notch his first hit for Nashville.

For the seventh time in his last eight starts, RHP Daniel Gossett allowed just 1 earned run on Friday, striking out 7 over 6 innings of work to earn his 5th win for the RockHounds. Third baseman Yairo Munoz had 2 hits, including a 2-run homer, and walked twice, while center fielder Brett Vertigan singled twice, doubled and drove in 4 runs to help the RockHounds snap their four-game losing streak on Friday.

Starter Kyle Friedrichs allowed 3 runs over 6 innings of work and left the game with the lead on Friday. John Nogowski, getting the start in left field, hit a 2-run homer to tie the game in the 1st inning, while center fielder Seth Brown slugged a solo shot in the 2nd to give the Ports the lead, and designated hitter Chris Iriart homered in the 6th. But RHP Carlos Navas gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, to tie the game in the top of the 7th inning. LHP Cody Stull tossed 2 scoreless frames to send the game to extra innings. And it remained tied until, with two outs in the bottom of the 10th, first baseman Sandber Pimentel singled in the winning run as the Ports won in a walk-off. RHP Matt Sergey picked up the win after tossing a scoreless top of the 10th for Stockton.

A pair of errors helped 3 unearned runs score off this year’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Logan Shore, who allowed 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2 in 2 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters on Friday. RHP Heath Bowers gave up 2 runs in 5 innings of relief for Vermont. Left fielder Luke Persico singled, doubled and drove in a run, while second baseman Nate Mondou had a pair of hits in the loss.

 

ARIZONA LEAGUE  (Rookie Short-Season)

This year’s second overall draft pick for the A’s, RHP Daulton Jefferies, allowed 3 hits while walking none and striking out 3 over 1 2/3 innings in his third appearance for the AZL A’s on Friday. 18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar was outstanding in relief, throwing 4 1/3 scoreless frames to earn his 2nd win, while LHP Kevin Ferreras got the final three outs for his 2nd save. Catcher Roger Gonzalez collected 3 hits, including a double, while second baseman Josh Vidales singled, doubled and drove in the sole run for the A’s in the win.
