Stockton Ports   2

Visalia Rawhide   1

WP – Meisner 1-12 / 3.99

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Casey Meisner

(4 2/3 IP / 1 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 6 K / Win)

RHP Casey Meisner endured a rough start to his season by suffering 12 straight losses for Stockton, but the 21-year-old finally managed to earn his 1st win on Monday. LHP Evan Manarino started the game and gave up just 1 run over 4 1/3 innings of work. Meisner then came on and preserved a slim one-run lead by allowing just 1 base runner, on a two-out single, while striking out 6 over the 4 2/3 scoreless frames to post his first victory for the Ports. Meisner began the month of July with an ERA of 4.72 and has now whittled it down to a more respectable mark of 3.99. Third baseman Jose Brizuela had 3 hits and drove in a run, while designated hitter Sandber Pimentel singled, doubled and scored the tying run for Stockton in Monday’s win.

Nashville Sounds  2

LP – Cotton 10-6 / 4.35

Prospect Of The Game:

Outfielder Arismendy Alcantara

(2 for 4 / Triple / Double / RBI)

Center fielder Arismendy Alcantara continued his hot hitting of late, tripling, doubling and driving in the Sounds’ first run on Monday, and he’s now 6 for 13 with 5 extra-base hits and 4 RBIs over his last 3 games for Nashville. Left fielder Rangel Ravelo singled, doubled and scored a run, while right fielder Jaycob Brugman had a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Sounds. Coming off a near-perfect game in his last start, RHP Jharel Cotton allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 innings to suffer his 6th loss, while rehabbing LHP Sean Doolittle tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief. Cotton was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week after allowing just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 12 over 9 scoreless innings to earn the complete-game shutout victory in his last outing for the Sounds.

LP – Huber 1-4 / 2.81

HR – Iriart 2 (16)

First baseman Chris Iriart clubbed a 2-run homer in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game and then slugged a solo shot in the 6th to give Beloit the lead, but it wouldn’t be enough to allow the Snappers to prevail on Monday. RHP Brendan Butler allowed just 2 unearned runs over 6 innings of work and left the game with a one-run lead, but RHP Rob Huber surrendered 2 runs in the 7th to suffer his 4th loss for the Snappers.
