With the bases loaded and the game tied 4-4 in the top of the 3rd inning on Thursday, shortstop Richie Martin stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam to give Stockton a lead they would never surrender. Martin also singled and drove in another run in the game, while designated hitter John Nogowski singled and homered as well. Right fielder Seth Brown singled, tripled and drove in a run, and catcher Argenis Raga and first baseman Sandber Pimentel had 3 hits apiece for the Ports. RHP Grant Holmes, recently acquired from the Dodgers, had a shaky start for Stockton, allowing 6 runs over 5 innings of work, but he still picked up the win for the Ports on Thursday.

RHP Heath Fillmyer turned in his fifth straight solid start for Midland, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 6 over 5 innings of work, but he left with the game a 1-1 tie on Thursday. RHP Kris Hall tossed 1 scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in his return to the RockHounds from the disabled list, while RHP Jake Sanchez got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 7th save for Midland. Shortstop Wade Kirkland homered in the 7th inning to provide the winning run for the RockHounds.

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Angel Duno

(5 IP / 2 H / 0 ER / 1 BB / 3 K)

 

RHP Angel Duno had another outstanding outing for the Snappers, allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk over 5 shutout innings, and he left the game with a three-run lead on Thursday. But RHP Nolan Blackwood surrendered 3 runs in the 9th inning to send the game to extra innings. Then, with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 13th, catcher Jose Chavez singled in the winning run as the Snappers were able to snap their seven-game losing streak in a walk-off on Thursday. First baseman Chris Iriart belted his 14th home run, while designated hitter Luis Barrera singled, tripled and walked. Third baseman Jesus Lopez had 3 hits and drove in a run, and RHP Cody Kurz picked up the win after pitching a perfect frame in the top of the 13th for Beloit.

Starter Dakota Chalmers struggled with his control on Thursday, walking 7 while allowing 2 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work on Thursday. LHP Ty Damron issued 4 walks of his own and allowed 3 runs in just 1 inning of relief to suffer his 3rd loss for the Lake Monsters. Right fielder Steven Pallares walked, singled, drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and stole 3 bases, while shortstop Eli White singled, walked and drove in a pair as the Lake Monsters lost their eleventh straight on Thursday.
