(8 IP / 1 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 1 K / Win)

2014’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brett Graves, was nearly perfect for the Ports on Wednesday. The 23-year-old allowed just one base runner all night, on an infield single in the 7th inning, and ended up throwing 8 shutout innings to earn his 5th win for Stockton. RHP Carlos Navas notched his 6th save despite giving up a run in the bottom of the 9th to spoil the shutout. First baseman Sandber Pimentel slugged his 16th home run in the 2nd inning to put the Ports on the board, while left fielder James Harris singled in a run in the 7th, and second baseman Mikey White singled, doubled and scored a run for Stockton.

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Raul Alcantara

(7 IP / 7 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 5 K / Win)

On Wednesday afternoon, RHP Raul Alcantara turned in his second straight impressive start since joining the Sounds last week. The 23-year-old allowed 7 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 7 shutout innings to earn the win, while RHP Ryan Brasier tossed a scoreless 8th, and LHP Patrick Schuster pitched a perfect 9th to complete the 7-hit shutout and pick up his 7th save for the Sounds. Alcantara, who was acquired at the end of 2011 from the Red Sox along with Josh Reddick and Miles Head in return for Andrew Bailey and Ryan Sweeney, has now failed to allow an earned run or a walk in 14 innings over his first 2 starts for Nashville. The Sounds managed just 5 hits on the day. Catcher Matt McBride and third baseman Renato Nunez both singled and drove in runs in the win. And with McBride returning to the roster, catcher Jarrett Costa was sent back to the AZL A’s on Wednesday.
