RHP Raul Alcantara turned in an impressive start in his Triple-A debut on Friday, allowing just 1 unearned run on 4 hits over 7 innings of work, but he left with the game a 1-1 tie. RHP Ryan Doolittle tossed a scoreless 8th, while RHP Tucker Healy pitched a perfect 9th to pick up the win as the Sounds won their third straight. Third baseman Renato Nunez singled and hit his 14th home run to tie the game in the home half of the 4th, while center fielder Billy Burns had a pair of hits, and shortstop Chad Pinder singled and scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 9th as the Sounds won in a walk-off on Friday. In other news, Nashville catcher Bruce Maxwell is scheduled to fly to the Bay Area on Saturday morning to make his major league debut for the A’s.

Starter Ben Bracewell was solid for the RockHounds on Friday, allowing just 2 hits over 5 shutout innings, and he left the game with a 2-run lead. But RHP Sam Bragg surrendered 2 runs, 1 earned, in 2 innings of relief to tie the game, and RHP Bobby Wahl then gave up the game-winning homer to the leadoff batter in the bottom of the 10th as the RockHounds lost in a walk-off on Friday. Right fielder Tyler Marincov singled, walked and homered, while left fielder J.P. Sportman doubled in a run in the loss.

Center fielder James Harris hit a 2-run homer, singled twice, walked, stole a base and scored 3 times to help Stockton win its third straight on Friday. Right fielder Joe Bennie singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair, while second baseman Melvin Mercedes singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored what would prove to be the winning run on a throwing error in the top of the 11th. Starter Brett Graves allowed 4 runs over 6 innings of work, while RHP Joey Wagman picked up the win despite giving up 1 run in the bottom of the 11th for the Ports.

Starter Dustin Hurlbutt suffered his 1st loss for the Snappers, allowing 6 runs over 5 1/3 innings before leaving the game with a foot injury, as Beloit dropped the first game of Friday’s doubleheader. Third baseman Jean Carlo Rodriguez doubled in the Snappers’ only run in the loss.

RHP Angel Duno turned in a strong start for the Snappers, throwing 5 2/3 shutout innings to earn his 6th win as Beloit won the second game of Friday’s doubleheader. LHP Jared Lyons tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 3-hit shutout and post his 4th save for the Snappers. Center fielder Justin Higley tripled, doubled, singled twice and drove in a run, while first baseman Chris Iriart singled, homered and drove in 4 for Beloit.

 

NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE  (Class-A Short-Season)

Friday’s game was suspended with the match tied in the 10th inning on Friday due to lightning. Shortstop Eli White homered and doubled for Vermont, while starter A.J. Puk allowed 2 runs and struck out 4 in 2 1/3 innings of work, and RHP Xavier Altamirano threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings for the Lake Monsters. The game is scheduled to resume on Saturday.
