On a night filled with solid pitching performances throughout the A’s system, the best outing of the night came in what would prove to be a losing effort. RHP Kyle Friedrichs allowed just 2 hits over 6 shutout innings for Stockton and left the game with the lead. But LHP Zack Erwin, making his first relief appearance this season, surrendered 6 runs, 5 earned, in 2 2/3 innings of work to take his 10th loss on Wednesday. First baseman John Nogowski singled, doubled and drove in the Ports’ first run in the 2nd inning, while center fielder James Harris homered for Stockton’s second run in the 6th.

RHP Daniel Gossett delivered a strong start for the RockHounds, allowing just 1 run while striking out 7 over 5 1/3 innings to earn his 2nd win on Wednesday. RHP Bobby Wahl tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 4th save for Midland. Shortstop Yairo Munoz had 2 hits, drove in a pair and stole a base, while first baseman Viosergy Rosa singled, doubled and scored a run for the RockHounds.

Starter James Naile turned in another outstanding outing on Wednesday, allowing just 1 run while striking out 7 over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering his 7th loss for the Snappers. Center fielder Skye Bolt doubled and scored Beloit’s only run in the loss.

Starter Heath Bowers allowed 4 runs over 6 innings of work to take his 3rd loss for the Lake Monsters on Wednesday. First baseman Miguel Guzman had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in a run, while second baseman Nate Mondou singled twice, doubled, walked and drove in a run for Vermont.

This year’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Matt Milburn, turned in an impressive effort in relief on Wednesday, striking out 6 without allowing a base runner over 3 innings of work for the AZL A’s. 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco made the start and allowed 1 run over 4 innings, while LHP Kevin Ferreras gave up 3 runs in 1 inning of relief to suffer the loss. 33rd-round catcher Jarrett Costa had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while first baseman Chris Iriart, who’s working his way back into action after being hit in the face with a pitch six weeks ago while with Beloit, doubled in a run in the loss.
