On a night with a number of solid pitching performances throughout the A’s system, the best effort of the night was turned in by a hurler whose team dropped its seventh straight. Stockton starter Kyle Friedrichs continued his impressive run for the Ports by allowing just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 9 over 7 shutout innings and he left the game with a 1-run lead on Sunday. But RHP Carlos Navas surrendered 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to blow the save opportunity, suffer his 4th loss and extend Stockton’s losing streak to seven straight games. But with Sunday’s performance, Friedrichs has now allowed just 2 runs while walking 1 and striking out 17 in 19 innings over his last 3 starts. Stockton scored just 1 run on 4 hits on Sunday. Second baseman Mikey White and designated hitter James Harris had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Pitcher Zach Neal

RHP Zach Neal was solid in his return to the Sounds on Sunday, tossing 4 shutout innings in his first start after working primarily out of the bullpen during his time with the A’s. Neal left with the game a scoreless tie, but RHP Chris Jensen allowed 2 runs in 4 innings of work to take the loss as Nashville dropped its fourth straight. The Sounds managed 1 run on just 3 hits on Sunday. Second baseman Joey Wendle doubled, while third baseman Renato Nunez and center fielder Jaycob Brugman both singled, and catcher Carson Blair went 0 for 2 but walked and scored in his first game for Nashville since being reassigned from the RockHounds. And with Oakland catcher Josh Phegley landing on the disabled list, Sounds catcher Matt McBride was recalled by the A’s on Sunday.

After shutting out the opposition on 8 hits on Saturday, Midland was shut out on just 1 hit on Sunday to snap the team’s four-game winning streak. Second baseman Franklin Barreto tripled to lead off the 6th inning but was left stranded and also walked and stole second base in the 1st inning. RHP Corey Walter had another strong outing as he transitions out of the bullpen into a rotation role for the RockHounds, striking out 4 over 4 shutout innings, and he left with the game a scoreless tie. But RHP Sam Bragg allowed 1 unearned run in 4 innings of relief to suffer his 2nd loss. And with Nashville’s Matt McBride recalled by the A’s, Midand catcher Carson Blair was reassigned to the Sounds on Sunday.

LHP Evan Manarino turned in another outstanding start for the Snappers, allowing just 1 run over 7 innings of work to earn his 7th win on Sunday. Center fielder Skye Bolt had the big bat for Beloit, collecting 3 hits, including a double, driving in 3 runs and stealing his 6th base, while second baseman Trent Gilbert and third baseman Edwin Diaz both drove in a pair of runs for the Snappers.

Pitcher Brendan Butler

Starter Brendan Butler was solid over 4 shutout innings for the Lake Monsters, and he left the game with a 1-run lead on Sunday. But RHP Yordy Alejo allowed 1 unearned run in 2 1/3 innings of relief to tie the game, and LHP Will Gilbert gave up the winning run in the bottom of the 8th to take the loss. Vermont scored 1 run on 5 hits on Sunday. Second baseman Nate Mondou had a pair of hits and drove in a run the Lake Monsters’ sole run in the loss.

Designated hitter Robert Martinez, who recently returned from the disabled list, had 3 hits, including a big home run in the 7th inning to break a 3-3 tie and provide the AZL A’s with the margin of victory on Sunday. Center fielder Jeramiah McCray singled, tripled and drove in a run, while second baseman Josh Vidales singled, doubled and drove in a run for the A’s. Starter Kevin Duchene gave up 1 run over 3 innings of work, while RHP Mitchell Jordan allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, in 3 innings of relief to pick up the save, and RHP Sam Sheehan pitched a perfect 9th to post his 1st save for the A’s.
