Left fielder Colin Walsh’s one-out double in the bottom of the 10th inning led to the Sounds winning in a walk-off on Friday. Joey Wendle pinch-ran for Walsh and then came in to score the winning run after two wild pitches. Walsh had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and also drove in the first run for the Sounds in the 4th inning. Center fielder Jaycob Brugman singled, doubled and drove in a run, while second baseman Arismendy Alcantara singled and swiped a pair of of bases for the Sounds. Pacific Coast League strikeout leader Chris Smith allowed 3 runs and struck out 4 over 5 innings of work, while RHP Eduard Santos gave up 1 run in 1 1/3 innings of relief, and RHP Ryan Brasier picked up the win after tossing a scoreless frame in the top of the 10th for Nashville.

RHP Daniel Gossett delivered a strong start for the RockHounds, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 5 innings of work on Friday. He left the game with a 1-run lead, but RHP Kyle Finnegan gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 2 1/3 innings of relief to take the loss in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader. Left fielder J.P. Sportman singled, doubled and drove in both the RockHounds’ runs in the loss.

RHP Ben Bracewell came out of the bullpen to make the spot start and was solid in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, allowing just 1 hit over 4 shutout innings for the RockHounds. RHP Kris Hall followed with 1 scoreless inning in relief, and RHP Jake Sanchez finished things off with 2 scoreless frames to pick up his 2nd win and complete the 2-hit shutout as Midland split Friday’s doubleheader with San Antonio. Right fielder Tyler Marincov doubled in the only run of the game in the bottom of the 1st inning for the RockHounds.

RHP Brett Graves had a rough start for Stockton on Friday, allowing 8 runs over 5 1/3 innings to suffer his 6th loss for the Ports. Third baseman Melvin Mercedes singled, doubled and drove in Stockton’s only run of the game, while first baseman John Nogowski doubled, and left fielder Joe Bennie had a pair of hits for the Ports.

LHP Evan Manarino turned in another impressive start for the Snappers on Friday, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits while walking none and striking out 8 over 6 2/3 innings to earn his 6th win, while RHP Rob Huber allowed 1 run in 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up his 1st save. Third baseman Edwin Diaz belted his 3rd home run in the bottom of the 5th to give Beloit the lead, while right fielder Brett Siddall singled twice and drove in a pair of runs, and left fielder Justin Higley tripled and scored twice for the Snappers. Meanwhile, catcher Miguel Guzman and RHPs Kevin Johnson and Jesus Zambrano were all reassigned from Beloit to Vermont on Friday.

Vermont was shut out on 8 hits in its first game of the season on Friday. Starter Heath Bowers was solid, allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 5 over 4 2/3 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss for the Lake Monsters. Center fielder James Terrell collected 3 hits, while rehabbing catcher Carson Blair had a pair of singles, and shortstop Eric Marinez and designated hitter Jhonny Rodriguez both doubled in the loss. Meanwhile, catcher Miguel Guzman and RHPs Kevin Johnson and Jesus Zambrano were all reassigned from Beloit to Vermont on Friday.
