With the game a scoreless tie in the top of the 6th inning, right fielder Tyler Marincov stepped to the plate with two men on and smacked a 3-run homer to provide Midland with the margin of victory in the second game of Monday’s doubleheader. Marincov also collected a pair of doubles in the game. First baseman Josh Rodriguez ripped a 3-run homer in the 7th and also singled twice for the Hounds. Starter Daniel Gossett tossed 4 scoreless innings before exiting the game, and RHP Ben Bracewell picked up the win despite allowing 2 runs in 3 innings of relief for the RockHounds.

RHP Jesse Hahn had a shaky start for the Sounds, allowing 3 runs while walking 7 over 4 2/3 innings to suffer his 2nd loss on Monday. RHP Liam Hendriks gave up 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief in his second rehab appearance with Nashville. Arismendy Alcantara, recently acquired from the Cubs in the Chris Coghlan trade, made the start in center field and slugged his 6th home run of the season and his 1st for the Sounds. In other news, Nashville outfielder Jaycob Brugman was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week after going 14 for 30 with 7 doubles, 2 home runs and 12 RBIs for the Sounds last week.

Starter Raul Alcantara was charged with 4 runs over 5 2/3 innings to take his 4th loss in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader. Third baseman Matt Chapman smashed his league-leading 15th home run, and first baseman Viosergy Rosa had a pair of hits for the Hounds.

Rehabbing RHP Henderson Alvarez had a rocky outing in his return to Stockton on Monday. He retired the side in order in the 1st inning, gave up 3 singles in the 2nd, surrendered 3 runs in the 3rd, and then got the first out in the 4th before departing after throwing 55 pitches. Alvarez ended up allowing 3 runs on 6 hits over 3 1/3 innings on Monday. RHP Joey Wagman gave up 1 run in 3 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the win as the Ports prevailed in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader. Second baseman Joe Bennie had a pair of hits, including a 2-run homer, while right fielder Seth Brown singled twice and drove in a run, and first baseman Sandber Pimentel and designated hitter John Nogowski drove in a pair of runs apiece for the Ports.

RHP Heath Fillmyer had another solid start for Stockton on Monday, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits while walking 2 and striking out 9 over 6 innings of work, and he left the game with a 2-run lead. RHP Koby Gauna then came on to give up a 2-run homer in the top of the 7th to tie the game. But left fielder Melvin Mercedes tripled in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th as the Ports swept their doubleheader on Monday. Right fielder Seth Brown belted his 3rd home run, while center fielder James Harris singled in a pair of runs for the Ports.

RHP Mike Murray turned in a strong start on Monday, throwing 7 shutout innings for the Snappers. But RHP Jesus Zambrano surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 8th to take the loss. Second baseman Trace Loehr had 3 hits and drove in a run, and first baseman Ryan Howell drew 3 walks in the loss.
