Beloit put 11 runs on the board to win big on Wednesday. Last year’s 33rd-round draft pick for the A’s, CF Mike Martin, had a big day at the plate, collecting 5 hits while driving in 3 runs and swiping a base for the Snappers. Martin has been hot since joining Beloit just a few days ago, going 8 for 12 over his first 3 games in the Midwest League. Left fielder Justin Higley drew 3 walks and homered, while designated hitter Ryan Howell, singled, homered, walked twice and scored 3 times, and shortstop Trace Loehr had 2 doubles, drove in a pair and stole a base for the Snappers. Starter Michael Murray allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work to earn his 2nd win on Wednesday.

Prospect Of The Game:

(2 for 4 / Double / 3 RBIs / Stolen Base)

Despite establishing an early 3-0 lead, the RockHounds still ended up dropping their fifth straight on Wednesday. Right fielder Tyler Marincov drove in all 3 of the Hounds’ runs, doubling in a run in the 1st inning and then singling in a pair in the 3rd. Left fielder J.P. Sportman doubled and scored, while center fielder Brett Vertigan drew 3 walks and scored twice for Midland. Starter Raul Alcantara allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 innings and left with the game a 3-3 tie. Then in the bottom of the 7th, third baseman Josh Rodriguez made an error on what should have been the third out of the inning to put a man on, and RHP Jake Sanchez then surrendered a single followed by a fatal 3-run homer to provide the margin of victory for the Hooks and suffer his 3rd loss for the Hounds.
