TEXAS LEAGUE  (Double-A)

Tulsa Drillers                  6

Midland RockHounds  5

LP – Bracewell 2-1 / 1.88

HR – Chapman (14), Marincov (2)

Prospect Of The Game:

Designated Hitter Tyler Marincov

(3 for 5 / Home Run)

On a day in which all four A’s affiliates lost, RockHounds designated hitter Tyler Marincov may have turned in the best performance of the day. The 24-year-old collected 3 hits, including his 2nd home run for the Hounds and his 11th on the season, and he now trails just teammate Matt Chapman, and is tied with Nashville’s Renato Nunez, in that category among all A’s minor leaguers. And speaking of Chapman, he slugged his league-leading 14th home run, a 2-run shot, in the 6th on Sunday. Second baseman Wade Kirkland singled, doubled and walked, while left fielder J.P. Sportman singled and scored and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Starter Chris Jensen allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, over 6 innings of work, while RHP Ben Bracewell was charged with the winning run in the top of the 9th to take the loss for Midland.

Prospect Of The Game:

First Baseman Rangel Ravelo

(1 for 4 / Home Run / 2 RBIs)

Starter Daniel Mengden suffered his 1st loss for the Sounds on Sunday but, despite throwing a total of 103 pitches over just 5 innings, the results weren’t really that bad. Mengden allowed 2 runs on just 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7 over 5 frames for Nashville. RHP Eduard Santos followed Mengden on the mound and surrendered 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning of relief. With the Sounds down by 5 in the 9th, third baseman Renato Nunez led off the frame with his 11th home run and, after designated hitter Ryon Healy doubled, first baseman Rangel Ravelo ripped a 2-run shot to bring Nashville within 2 runs, but that’s as close as the Sounds would come on Sunday. Catcher Bruce Maxwell reached base 3 times, on a pair of singles and a walk, and drove in a run in the loss. With RHP Sonny Gray activated to make Sunday’s start for Oakland, RHP J.B. Wendelken was optioned back to Nashville. And infielder Colin Walsh, who’d been selected by the Brewers in the Rule-5 draft, was returned to the A’s and has been assigned to the Sounds.

RHP Daniel Mengden: 5 IP / 2 H / 2 ER / 3 BB / 7 K

RHP Eduard Santos: 2/3 IP / 2 H / 4 ER / 3 BB / 1 K

3B Renato Nunez: 1 for 3 / Home Run / 2 Walks / 2 Errors

After surrendering 9 runs in his first start for Stockton, RHP Kyle Friedrichs rebounded by allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while walking none and striking out a career-high of 11 on Sunday. He left the game with the lead, but RHP Carlos Navas gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th to take the loss. Second baseman Mikey White reached base 4 times, on a pair of hits and a pair of walks, and drove in a run, while third baseman Melvin Mercedes and center fielder B.J. Boyd each singled, doubled and drove in a run in the loss.

RHP Carlos Navas: 1 IP / 4 H / 3 ER / 0 BB / 0 K
